Games Randomly Dissapearing From "games On Hd"
« on: July 02, 2006, 07:29:00 AM »

Having sort of an annoying problem and I'm hoping someone can help me here.

Seems like it's happening more and more now. I first noticed the problem with Dead or Alive: XBV. I had it on the Xbox for about a week, then all of a sudden, it vanished from the "Games on HD" menu. I dunno if it's deleted from the HD (all the folder names are just "XBcopy00001, 00002, 00003, etc"), but I can't play it anymore. Since I first noticed, it seems to be happening more often. I put Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on it, and the next day, gone from the list of HD games. GTAIII went on two days ago, it's gone this morning (finally decided to ask about it because of it). It's also happened to Star Wars: KotOR II and a few other games.

Anyone know what's up, or at least had the same problem and fixed it before? This is bugging the hell out of me. At first I thought they were just getting removed because I didn't make a save file for them, but then it started happening to games I was actively playing and saving (GTAIII, KotOR II). So now I'm afraid to put a new game on and play it, in fear that all my playing effort will be for nothing.

Xbox v 1.6, soft-modded with the 007 AUF exploit.

Ok, you mentioned the games, when on the hard drive are called "XBcopy". I assume this is the name of the program that u used to copy the games over? Well if it is, I recommend u get rid of that and install PX hdd loader. u will find it in the usual places. It is reliable. it also tells u what games u've got on your hdd as well as copying them across.

Also, check to see if your hdd is locked.
Also, make sure you are using a v1.6 compatible bios. If you have reflashed the modchip recently.

ah, I think I might have found the problem.

All the games I used XBcopy to put on have been just fine. It's when I use the program "SUXX" for PC (sometimes I copy the DVD to the Xbox, sometimes I just FTP the game over to the Xbox), that's when games start dissapearing. I'm going to try burning games to DVD first and using XBcopy from now on to see if that does any good.

Yep, that sounds like your problem. But I would still go with PX hdd loader.

Why would you do that?
Simply put the original game in the drive and transfer using DVD2XBOX

I know how opinions are, but I had to respond.

I used PXHddloader for the first few months after getting my Xbox. It did what I wanted.

After trying DVD2Xbox, there is no way I would go back to PXHddloader. I think the author did a great job making the software and I thank him for it. It is just outdated compared to DVD2Xbox.

Give it a try, you'll love it.
