Evo-x Dash Problems
« on: June 18, 2006, 09:56:00 AM »

I'm having issues with my Evo X dash. As the title states, some games don't load, either from the DVD or HD. Some games hang on the loading screen, but more common than not, it starts to load, then returns to the dashboard. Its only on select games, Madden 06, Soul Cal etc. I've tried using 2 different chips, X2.2 Lite and X2.6 Lite. I've tried various different Bios' as well. Currently i'm running Xecuter 5035 which i believe is the most current version. When the dash loads, if I select launch DvD it'll load and return to the dash, and does the same thing if copied to the HD, either by manually transfering the files via FTP, or using HDD Loader or DVD2Xbox. The only way to get the game to work is to have it in the Xbox before hand, and it will auto launch the Game. The game works fine on my other xbox with the exact same configuration (manually copied all files from working xbox to not working xbox). Only difference is the working Xbox has an X3. The only thing I can think of is that there is a patch needed, but it was my understanding that the bios patched games on the fly, or at the very least, DVD2xbox/HDDLoader would patch the games.

I've also deleted the cache files (E:\Cache, X, Y, and Z), disabled IGR in the evox.ini file. Verified the system clock is correct, and deleted all saved games as well. Same issue. I'm totally out of ideas on this one. Any help would be muchly appriciated.

First time everything works fine, but suddenly ( maybe I played with some settings in Avalauch for better VGA settings ) most games won't work anymore. also some homebrew stuff has it's problems. Tried different bioses, all dashs, completly formatted hdd and reinstalled via slayer-cd. hm .. same problem ! some newer games, i bought !! and copied to hd works fine, but some don't. so next step is another format and get the ms backup i've done to work ( factory setting ). I will report what happens.

so no good news .. just tested a brand new hd ( 160GB Samsung ). But guess what .. same problem. Used X-Disk to format and copy all the stuff. MediaCenter worked fine, also most of the homebrew stuff. No MS Dash ( always get this 21 error .. hmpf ). So it's no hdd problem .. maybe some wrong eeprom settings. any ideas ? i will inform you if i get this baby to work.

What dashboards are you guys using? I'm running Evox, i'm going to try a different one just to see

Mahalla439, As for your error 21, its because you didn't lock your HD thats why you gett the error with the MS Dash. EvoX will have an option to lock the harddrive (unless its commented out with the # symbol in the evox.ini file) otherwise just use Config Magic to lock the hard drive.

I am having the same problem but only on EA Games and only when using Component Cables.  Non EA Games boot fine using Component Cables, and all games boot fine over S-Video.   What kind of setups do you guys have, I am not real farmiliar with the games mentioned to know if they are EA or not.  I am using a Executer 2.6 lite, X-Box ver 1.0, with an older bios that I should probably try and update.

I'm having the problem with the X2.6 lite as well. I determined that it has to be a problem with the chip as I have the exact same configuration on another Xbox running an X3 and the problem is only on the X2.6 lite. I've also tried 4 different bios' on the X2.6 lite. From old to newest, booting from C, E, or F, samething. Are you guys using experiencing this problem on any other chip???

So guess what .. found the problem.
No matter of harddisk, nor other software-related issues. First thought of this eeprom setting, becomes true.
Having checked the eeprom settings with configmagic1.6 again, i realized that video / region settings were not what I expect >>

UNKNOWN, Region 4

After having changed this to ..

PAL, Region 4

everything works fine. Hurrraaaa ! As I didn't touch these settings directly I think Avalaunch has changed this during config of the graphic.

Hopefully, it works for u too.

Cool, thanks for the fix! I am not familiar with Configmagic but ill figure it out.  I tried booting direct from a game disc that was giving HD boot problems last night and it played fine, just as was mentioned earlier in this post so its probably all the same problem.

My FIX was to change the "Game Region" setting in the EvoX "System Settings" menu from "Auto" to "Normal" I hope this helps someone else stuck in my same predicament.
