Connection Actively Refused (when Attempting Ftp Connection)
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:34:00 PM »

Right, tonight i've been trying to connect to my xbox only to get a 'connection actively refused' error from CuteFTP Pro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

i've searched here, and google and not yet been able to figure it out...also i can't seem to be able to change the xbox's IP...rebooted loads and tried all i can think of.

Whats more i can ping the box perfectly well from my PC...i just can't connect.

i'm going to try and reinstall evox tomorrow i think, but does anybody have any suggestions?

thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

You might try checking your firewall(s) on your PC, including the built in Windows firewall.  Instead of trying to configure them, you might want to diable them all together while trying to FTP.  Are you sure you are typing in the correct IP and that your Xbox is properly configured?

Right, well a reinstall of evoX sorted out my connection problem.

but now it'd appear that my linksys switch wont allow a DHCP connection through to my router...all the lights are on to suggest the connection but my laptop gets limited or no connectivity and my xbox just simply gets 0.0.0.0 or my static IP setting, and wont connect...

the problems never end!

You might try resetting your switch by unplugging and replugging it.  Can you ping your router or access the internet if you set up a static IP? I know switches support DHCP, but don't perform it.  IS DHCP working properly with computers directly connected to the router?  Have you tried, o your laptop, going to the command rpompt and typing ipconfig /renew?

If static IPs work, I'd say go with one of them.  They wrok fine, and don't need to be changed.
