I've replied to your other topic here about your problem.  And to throw my 2 cents worth in here, Maxtor HDD's have always worked fine for me; be it in an XBox or a PC.

Get Seagate, they have the longest warranty most of the time. 5 years!

Well, now I have 3 Maxtor drives, including 80GB in my Xbox, 40GB and 160GB in my PC< and never have had a problem with them. They're cheap, (quite) reliable and haven't had a problem locking one in my Xbox.

But this is my humble opinion and you may have different results.  wink.gif

I have a maxtor ultra 120gb 7200rpm 8mb cache in my xbox - its a bit loud - but its super fast.

I also installed the same again into a mates box and he loves it.

No probs with maxtor drives here.

maxtor are the cheapest hard drives ... but also the fastest hard drives to die

so i dont trust my precious data on a cheap maxtor

just my 2 cents

BTW: why is this posted in the evolutionx forum?

I have a maxtor right now on my modded xbox it is a bit noisy but it works o.k but I prefer using a seagate barracuda hdd instead it's the quietest of all the hdd's and it has a longer warranty period beerchug.gif

Personally I cant stand them.  The noise is terrible and dont tell me they arent any louder because ive installed them into multiple boxes and it always sounds like the box is munching on a bag of lays.  I dont know if they die more quickly, ive heard that from lots of people though.  WD all the way for me.  Seagate is excellent as well.
