Ive got a Xenium chip, locked 20 GB hard drive, and Apps (MAMEDoX, DVD2XB, etc.). However, I'll go to play an original Xbox game (Halo 2 for instance), and it'll freeze right after pressing start at the first screen when normally it would show the list of your profiles to pick. I tried another game (PGR2) and it also froze right before the first screen that shows your profile. After about an hour of frustration I turned it off and waited the next day to play. The first thing I did was pop in Halo 2, and it worked perfectly fine. This has only occurred recently, and I cannot think of anything critical I have done to initiate such a problem.
I put this in the Dashboard forum because in trying to solve this problem, I have noticed that it occurs under more than just one BIOS (my preferred one is EvoX M8+) including the MS BIOS.
It will play some originals and backups that have or don't have profiles saved on the Xbox. From what I tested, ones that freeze after the first startup button is pressed are NFSU2, PGR2 (both had profiles), and sometimes Halo 2 (had profiles). Ones that work are Fable, Hitman 2, and P&P:WW (All but Hitman had profiles). As a worst result, Splinter Cell: CT and PT won't even load passed the green Evolution X image after choosing "launch DVD." All were original. The one backup I tested was Riddick which worked perfectly fine (had profile).
One thing to note: Fable and Halo 2, when it worked, took nearly double the time to load than it normally would.
Does my Xbox just need to "rest" to be able to run certain games or is there something that needs to be removed/adjusted/added to fix this?
