Portable Dvd Player With Xbox
« on: December 25, 2004, 01:03:00 AM »

Hi,
I just got a Duraband Portable DVD Player from Walmart. The thing is I can't hook up my xbox to it...no Audio or Video Input options available. The Model is Dur-1700.

I want to take it back and get another preferable at a similar cost but with the option to hook up xbox to it. I have looked at some other players, but most of them do not say anything about hooking up to a console. I would greately appreciate if someone with portable dvd player( with the option i want), could give me information on this matter. The dealer can be either walmart or tigerdirect, but others are also welcome (the only other consideration is price).

Please do tell me which DVD player I should go with.

Thank you.

I haven't looked at all of those devices so I can't say about all of them but of the 5 or so models I've seen, none of them had inputs.  I'd be curious to know if anyone makes one with an aux-video input as that would be cool, but I assumed none of them could do that.

I saw another Duraband that offers two screens and says it can be connected to consols. I searched the net for reviews, but saw not so good reviews. So I am still waiting for more information before I make my decision. Here is the link to the one I have on mind.

The Duraband

I currently own this one:

Current Player

So, can someone help me out with the decision. Should I look for others or take the one with two screen?

Thank you

This one seems to have inputs http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP....ver300-DVPFX701

Its pretty pricey but it does say it can be used as a monitor, not sure how compatible though.

These are a list of its inputs and outputs:

Inputs and Outputs:

•       S-Video Output

•       Composite Video Output (Or Input) Mini-Pin Connection

•       Audio Output (Or Input) Analog Mini-Pin Connection

•       Digital Optical Output (Same Connector as Analog Mini-Pin Output)

•       Headphone Jack Mini-Pin Connection

•       DC Connection for Supplied AC Adapter

Forget that one, the "Homita Portable DVD Player with 7-inch Screen (HPU702)" seems a much better choice. The one i saw was about $199

You're an idiot.  I just looked up that model and it doesn't have inputs either.

I have a Polaroid PDV-0700 that I bought last Feb. at Best Buy on sale for the low price of $300. :) I'm quite down now that they are so cheap. I believe they go for under $200 depending on where you buy. I play my xbox on it everywhere I go that doesn't have an extra tv. I highly recommend this player. Just check out reviews on it.
