Evo-x Loading Screen Freezes
« on: April 25, 2005, 01:50:00 PM »

Hello everyone, I need some help here. I am a noob when it comes to xbox modding and so on, but I hope you can help me. First of all, I flashed the wrong bios into my chip (Xecuter 2.6 ce I think). This made my xbox flash green/red, and nothing worked.  I bought a programmer and fixed it. So, I got it up and running, and got a cd from a friend of mine, that knows all this stuff. The cd had slayer 2.6 on it. I put it in, and chose to install. Chose evo-x on c: drive and apps on f: drive I think. So, that went okay, restarted the xbox, and the evo-x screen showed. I could choose from xbox media center, xbox media player, emulators and so on. But, when I try to access any of these programs, the loading screen shows, and it just stands there. I waited for 15 minutes just to be sure, but nothing happens. I also tried an original game (fifa street), and chose launch game from dvd-rom or something like that, but the loading screen shows, and freezes. I dont know what bios I have, cause my friend sent it to me, and said it was the right one. So, now I'm stuck. Hope someone can help me here, please.

When you say "...the loading screen shows...", is this the EvolutionX loading screen, or the loading screen of the application you are trying to launch? I suspect you are referring to the EvolutionX loading screen. If that is the case, I believe your evox.ini file is not set up correctly.

Is your PC networked to your XBOX (are you able to ftp to your XBOX from your PC)? If so, ftp to your XBOX, locate the evox.ini on the C: drive, and edit it. Make sure you have the following in the [Menu] section:

[Menu]

Section "Root"
{
Section "Applications"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\Apps\"
AutoAddItem "f:\Apps\"
AutoAddItem "g:\Apps\"
SortAll
}
Section "Games"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\Games\"
AutoAddItem "f:\Games\"
AutoAddItem "g:\Games\"
SortAll
}
Section "Emulation"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\Emulation\"
AutoAddItem "f:\Emulation\"
AutoAddItem "g:\Emulation\"
SortAll
}

If you don't have a g: drive, you don't need AutoAddItem "g:\Apps\", AutoAddItem "g:\Games\", and AutoAddItem "g:\Emulation\".

After seeing your .ini file, I don't think it would be safe to replace anything at this point. Perhaps you should confirm that the applications, emulators, etc. are on you hard drive in the location they should be.

For example, for Xbox Media Center, make sure there is an Apps folder on the
e: drive, and within the Apps folder there is a XBMC folder, and within the XBMC folder there are all the XBMC folders and files (including default.xbe).

For Emulators, make sure there is an Apps folder on the e: drive, and within the Apps folder there is an Emulators folder, and within the Emulators folder there are emulators and there associated folders and files.

And so on....

What is this full rebuild thing?  I'm at the last resort for something to do to get my Xbox to stop locking up at the Evox loading logo screen?  Do any of yall know how to get to this "rebuild option"
