Im not an expert - and it depends on what you have installed but...
The Xbox media player is basically exactly the same as windows media player. Therefore it will play anything you have the codecs for (divx avi etc). So you need to get those on (if you dont already have them).
Plus the xbox will not boot a regular computer data cd. Try getting the latest 'Quix" which will let you create a iso file which the xbox will boot (which you then use a programe like nero to burn to cd).
