Little Newb W/ A Few Q's
« on: April 08, 2005, 09:11:00 PM »

Just ordered my pimped out ride from chipdealer.com. Been using PS2 since day 1 and it was time to move on. Now, I will get the BOX loaded (bios & 200g drive) Can we talk about dashboards?

evoX or Avalaunch?
Can you run them both?
Which is better?
Don't knock me - I read 300+ posts. Got the files and am ready to install. I even found the evoX on my own...And according to the NEW poll, avalaunch is prefered...

So what are the core diffs?
If I use both ? How?

Drives: I looked this up and I see not alot posted about them?
I have the Ava 2.2 manual - READ all the way through and I do not understand the DRIVE letters?
C\
D\
E\
ETC?

What is on what? What drive will my 200g harddrive be?
Lastly, I see alot of Skins where the TEMP is in Celseous?
No farenheight? If not a function then what is a PROPER temp in C>

Thank you to all who are way ahead of me and can assist...Perhaps in a few month's I can payback.

Trade-off: Need MAME data? Email me I can assist...I been doing PS2 and MAME for awhile..I got mame goodies...

You can run both dashes.

Most beginners prefer evox.

C:\ drive contains the "operating system" m$ dash, etc....

D:\ drive is the dvd rom

E:\ drive is where the save games are stored as well as music saved from the m$ dash etc..

F:\ drive is where you will be storing your games or movies of whatever, and is not present on a stock xbox ( this is gained by your upraded hdd)

G:\ drive, you may or may not have a g drive, depends on your bios, but has the same use as f:\

Evox temp can be shown in C or F whatever your preference.  You can change that in settings...

Good luck and enjoy ...

So Do I need M$dash?
That is the default.xbe right?

Would anyone run two dash's?
Why? :jester:

Ya the m$ dash is handy for alot of things... transferring game saves to mem card, setting the clock, changing video and audio settings etc.....

You can run as many dashes as you would like, the bios determines which one to initially load, and the others can be launched as applications...

its a good idea to install alternate dashes and run them as apps just to try them out.. till you find the one you like.

I have 4 boxes all running different primary dashes, depends on what i use the box for....but they all have additional dashes on them as well, ..... eg. avalaunch has a much better ftp than evox....evox has trainers....
