Any Way To Have 2 Lines To Hdtv From 1 Source?
« on: December 02, 2004, 11:43:00 PM »

Is there any way to split a component output to two individual inputs without loosing quality?  The reason I ask is that my TV has seperate inputs for 480i/p and 720p/1080i... I split the lines and was able to run everything albeit very dark and washed. Any suggestions, anyone have a similar remedy?

Well, you split the signal so you'd need an inline video amplifier to boost it back up right?

Your TV simply isn't fully XBOX compatible.  If it's within the 30 days return policy, I'd suggest returning it for a set that supports 480 and 720 and 1080 on the same input.  IMHO this is a mandatory requirement for the XBOX.

Amplifying/splitting video signals was just discussed in this thread:

mandatory requirement? Um, I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's mandatory. One of the TVs I have is a plasma that has 2 component inputs, and one supports 720p/480p, but not the lower resolutions. Every single thing I have on my modded xbox will work on this port. Except the splash screen from the bios. Also, playing DVDs is sometimes difficult. But every dashboard supports 720p, and most games support 480p.

There's definitely some stuff that just won't work, but it's not mandatory.

You're right.  I meant to say "mandatory in my opinion", and have edited my message to have IMHO before that statement.  Nothing is mandatory, it just depends on what you are personally willing to put up with.  In my opinion I wouldn't be willint to put up with that.  But I also wouldn't purchase an HDTV that doesn't support 720p (like most Mitsubishis) and there are other people who don't mind that.

If his TV supported at least 480p on the HD input, he could put the MS Dash into progressive mode via the triggers/joypads trick which sounds like a simliar solution to what you do.
