Problem With The F Drive
« on: February 14, 2005, 12:56:00 PM »

Well heres the deal... I used ldots method of softmodding my bros xbox with
evox and heres the problem, i cant use the f drive! When i ftp (with FlashFXP
of course) and try to create a directory it doesnt show up. Now this isnt the
bigger HD method, this was a simple test to see if the disk worked alright, so
we used the original xbox drive. Dash Version +3935. Xbox version 1.6. :uhh:

Its not going to show up until you get a hold of evtool and reconfigure the bios to use the f: drive. hint metoo M8 in the usually places

I think the current is 1.4.1 so good luck and have fun

Ok
Evtool will let you change the functions of the bios to allow the f: enabled so that when mxm loads it will function. Now evox will have to have the f: drive enabled has well in its .ini file "evox.ini". So check the ini file first to see if it is enabled then go find the updated M8 metoo bios with evtool. and you should be fine.
Take care

:uhh:  I'm stiff confused, Here i'll explain How i modded it:
1. Did the HD hotswapI
2. Used ldots UDE method with UDE2 or whatever. Remember, this is A SOFTMOD.
3. FTP to xbox and tried to use the f drive. it was there but not functioning.
4. here is what evox has on the menu for how much space is in the damn drive: F drive: 0

Please give me a mini tut on how to fix this or to re-mod this possible screw up.

P.S. ive got evtool and the m8 metoo pack from the usual places... am i allowed to post the zip name?

Its good that you have the metoo m8. But look below first.

Checklist:

Does the evox.ini file reflect that the F:\ drive enabled? ftp over to the xbox and pull a copy to the desktop and see if the evox.ini file has f:\ enabled. If yes go to the next question. If no, then enable it then go to the next question.

Did you format the F:\ drive? If so, then go to the next question. If not, then look in the forums to learn to format via evox or by way of flashfxp.

If still a no go! Then make sure that the bios that your using will support large harddrives. This is where the evtool comes into play with the metoo 1.4.1 m8 bios.
Hope this helps
Take care

you cannot use f drive with the stock hard drive there is not enough space on the hard drive to support the use of f drive

upgrade your hard drive

The f drive has always been enabled. also we are using a standard xbox Hard Drive. I just need to know how to use evtool and also where to put the files. Remember this is ldots UDE2 softmod here.

johnodd is correct. You must have a larger hard drive to utilize that space. You will see the f:\ at 0 if you have the stock xbox hard drive

evtool is easy. Note that it is a bios tool for metoo that is located with the metoo 1.4.1 downloads that can be found. I see you have yours so.
open the zip and you should see the evtool folder as will as the Metoo-M8plus_... bios file. If you use the ltools package then you need to be careful as to impliment this into the package. Read the readme file then make a new folder on the desktop and place a copy of the evtool into it as well as the bios from the metoo zip.
So you should have the new folder with metoo M8plus bios and the evtool. Open evtool. At this screen you need to open a bios file by clicking open on the lower right hand and find the bios that is in the new folder you created. Always make a copy then edit the copy incase you mess up (so it will not be the original files).
Now that you have the bios open in the evtool just configure your parameters that are to your liking and save the file.
Again im not sure of the file structure in the ltools installer (if thats the installer you choose)Be sure that the file paths are correct so that the xbox boot properly.

Take care
