Hd Av Pack Newbie Question
« on: November 30, 2004, 09:34:00 AM »

Good day,
Doing the searches in this forum was a little overwhelming for me, so I seek help.

Is there a way to play my backed up games in a format higher that 480i?  I've got an HD tele, a modded box with some HD supported games, and the final ingredient, the MS HD AV pack.

From what I kinda understood, the only way is to changing the games .xbe hex file

Is this the case?  is there another way?

Best regards,,,,

^ I need this same information, Is there a list of all the Hex edit info for all HD supported games.   Ive been thinkin and maybe a better dashboard similar to MS will automatically change the games to 480p w/o the use of the edit....Hopefully someone will respond to our questions.

No, most games support 480p and some support 720p and 1080i.  You can check the link in my sig to see which games support what.

When you connect the HD pack to the XBOX it should add HD options to your video menu where you can enable the HD modes.  Don't enable modes your TV doesn't support.

This is for US (ATSC) HDTVs.  I have no idea what happens in PAL counrties.

Im using avalaunch as my dash. and i have 1080 support selected. Is that enough? Do i still need to hex edit the games or am i already seeing the games in 480p.  Im sure my dash is in High Def, but it doesnt look like the games are.  Specifically im trying to get my backed up version of Halo 2 to play on my modded xbox, but when i play the original on my roomates it looks different. ive done split screen and the difference is noticable.  Any help will be apprectiated.

I think you need the MS Dash to alter the setting for the games.  It gets stored in the settings of the XBOX.

If you changed the settings in your MS dash all games will play in whatever modes you selected. 480p, 720p, 1080i. Most games are only 480p/i and only some are widescreen.

In avalaunch 1080i setting is only for avalaunch I believe.
