Can't Ftp To Xbox Anymore
« on: January 10, 2005, 11:00:00 PM »

Last year when I started modding my xbox I used Evox 3935 to ftp to my xbox, at the time I was using FlashFXP v2.1. I started using UnleashX as my default dash not long after I modded my xbox. So last week I decided to use Evox 3935 as my dash and now I can't ftp to my xbox using Evox. I have no problems with ftping to my xbox if I use Ava or UnleashX as the dash. I'm using FlashFXP v3.0.2 build 1045 and this is the error I'm getting:

WinSock 2.0 -- Open SSL 0.9.7d 17 Mar 2004

I never changed any setting in my evox.ini I even used slayer's 2.5 and 2.6 disc to try to ftp to my xbox, but still no luck. So does anyone has the same problem?

check that the ip setting in evox is right .... i saw a line that said something about 192.168.0.2 towards the bottom of your log..

192.168.0.3 was the default STATIC ip address in evox awhile back if i remember correctly ..... if you are connecting through a router set static ip to no.... and remember to SAVE AND EXIT after you make your changes to your settings in evox.

Thanks SirHexx, but like I said I never changed anything with evox.ini since last year when I first modded my xbox. I used to be able to connect with the settings I have. I even tried the old version of FlashFXP (v2.1 build 924 the very first version I used) and the only thing I can conclude is that last year I wasn't using XP SP2 and now I have SP2 installed. But thanks anyway. I'll just use UnleashX to ftp to my xbox or Ava.

check your firewall setting in sp2.."TURN IT OFF" at least while you try to connect again ... that is the only thing that "might" be able to mess with your connection because of SP2...

good luck

Yeah it is really weird, I am having the same problem I FTP with UnleashX and it works fine but if I boot up Evox I get an error when FTPing. It only started when I installed my X3 chip or at least it has been that long. I can telnet to my xbox after I start a game up with evox just fine. I even tried a crossover cable with all firewalls on my comptuer off still get the samething. It may be the newest version of UnleashX I installed that is messing it up I dont know what else it is besides the X3 or UnleashX.

If I figure it out I will post what I did to fix it.

one quick question....

are any of you actually seeing the partitions listed in Flashfxp or it doesnt make ANY connection what so ever ....

i only ask because flashfxp tends to cache the ftp info so if you make any changes you cant see them appear unless you hit refresh.....

i ran into a problem awhile ago when i used flashfxp to connect to the xbox while i has the Avalaunch dash running and then when i rebooted the xbox into evox and ftp'ed again i saw all the partitions listed but could not access any of them until i right click and refresh..... just thought i might throw that out there.

no, mine connects as normal, gives the username/pass then it waits for awhile and then it says that i can't create a data connection and i don't see any folders or anything.

the bizarre thing is that my laptop and desktop are set to the same settings, all firewalls are off and i'm using a crossover cable. My laptop actually used to connect just fine and then one day (without changing any settings at all on either xbox or laptop) it just stopped working. my xbox still connects to my desktop using evox though, and my laptop will connect to my xbox when i'm running unleashx (so the laptop isn't broken or anything).

Unleash and AVA support PASV mode in ftp.  Evox does not.  So if you CAN ftp with Unleash and/or ava and then try with evox and it doesn't work you will need to disable PASV in your ftp client first.
