Format your Y drive.

What bios are you using? If you're using the Evox M8, then it'll say unknown, I use M8 and it says the same thing on mine.

After you've formatted your Y drive, delete everything the X, Y, and Z drives, but don't delete the actual drives themselves.

After that, delete everything in E:\Cache. Then try running apps.

Also, what version of evox do you have? I hope you're using the latest version (3935)

QUOTE (punqewe @ Oct 6 2004, 09:00 AM)
I've got the old 4977 and it comes up as unknown as well.....just for some info. Also I might comment that this is one of the best posts I've seen asking for a solution to a problem. The pics help out alot.

Also the not being able to get to the m$ dash could be an .xbe renaming issue. And yeah looks like the 'Y' drive need a looking at...there should be 700 something in all x,y,and z. And in the ini for evox if the launch dvd isnt set to d:\default.xbe,and set to something else for some stupid reason it will hang. I've had to fix one like that.....always look at your downloads before using them. Other than that,it's probably a one night fix...don't worry too much.

xbox ver. 1.6
i got evolutionx ver. 3935
i got evox M8 ver. 1.6 BIOS
xecuter 2.6 chip
maxtor 120gig HD

my question is how do i "format" the y drive?  Is it different then just deleting everything from it?

here is my evox.ini

I Can Not Launch Anything....**pics Inside**
« Reply #3 on: October 24, 2004, 08:39:00 AM »

Same problem here, I have a SmartXX v2 chip, everything works fine. Except I can't load any applications. I even tried booting directly to xbmc, but the screen was only black then.

I've also tried a numerous of bios avaible, ranging from default M8 1.6 bios, to customized bios with LBA48 and IGR support. Still doesn't work..

Have anyone figured out how to solve this problem yet?

Instead of manually formatting you'r new HD.. use a 1:1 HD clone. That worked great here! solved all my problems. Hope it helps you aswell. Takes some time but you have to reassemble your old harddrive and use a Y power splitter to connect your other drive  to the IDE cable (where the dvdrom is), also remember to set it to slave. And then back to master/cable select after making a 1:1 HD clone and switching it back with the original disk.

Hope that works out for you aswell!
