sad.gif For thoses who are just tuning in I will reiterate my problem in a new unit of time with all the data in a concise fashion as to save the need to read all the posts:
3 days ago I was putting some music videos on my box, playing a few games, then I went to bed.The next day I went to put in a DVD and my xbox started looping and I can't make it stop. I'm pretty sure I have a version 1.4 box(got it last Christmas),with a flashed TSOP. I have a 160 GB Maxtor HD and a Phillips DVD drive. I tried making multiple Exox boot disks as well as Slayer's auto installer, but they don't read. I still have my original HD with the same version of Evox on it as my Maxtor. When I plug in the original drive, it just keeps looping. When I unplug the HD & turn it on it just freezes at the XboX splash screen. When I Unplug the DVD drive & turn it on I get an error message, I think #12. I studied up on the forums about clockloops and rememberd that when the guy flashed my box he used a memory card and a Mech Assault game(although at the time I had no idea what an exploit is, and still don't really, just an idea of how it works). So I tried just letting it loop all night, plugged it back into my network, tried putting in a scratched disk, unplugged all controllers, all the things people have suggested for that problem......But it doesn't recover, it just stops looping and flashes green & red, sometimes fast & sometimes slow, and when I turn it back on it just keeps looping again. The people that did my mod are no longer around, and I'm completely on my own on this and I'm dirt poor so I'm not  all about getting a chip just yet. I don't even know if an original game will work because all my games are in another state and I don't know the address of where they are. I'm a bit of a nooB but I do know my way around a box. This is very unusual and I don't know if its my TSOP or if its the motherboard or what... I'm at my wit's end and just don't know what to do anymore. Does ANYONE have any ideas/suggestions as to what the problem could be or how to fix this. I'm getting really deppressed about this and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

I already tried a bigger dummy file, 550 MB, but I forgot to put that in my most recent post........

Also, I have done a full erase (not a quick erase) using nero, it took about 25 minutes to erase it.....

But I don't think that using a boot cd is the issue here, since my Box won't boot with the original HD which has the same version of Evox, and has nothing wrong with it. If it was a corrupted Evox file on my Maxtor, then naturally my original HD would work, being that I havent used it in months and my Box crashed 3 days ago........ That would only lead me to believe that there's something else going on, totally exernal to the dashboard much less the HD (unless I'm mistaken, which I may be)...........Thanks though.............

It sounds more like a TSOP issue since it doesn't work on the original HDD. It could be that your TSOP is corrupted, but I highly doubt it.

Anyways, is your HDD locked? If so, what did you lock it with? Do you have a backup of your eeprom?

If your HDD is unlocked, or you can unlock it, you can use XboxHDM, to browse the contents of your Xbox's HDD in your PC, and copy files from the CD to the Xbox HDD, allowing you to do a fresh evox install. That should solve your problem, assuming it's file related.

Now if it's TSOP related, I think a modchip might be your only option, but I'm not too sure.

as for my problem - it sorta fixed itself - at first i got the error 13 - then a day later - turned it on - booted up to evox!  i was amazed but 2 good to be true - sure it wouldnt work - tried to ftp it in - i forgot to put the cable in - had to restart - then it was no go!  ugh
so i turned it off
waited a while - turned back on - it went to boot in another dashboard - i think mxm - so i ftped to it - made it the default dash - everything works fine -
im not sure now what to copy back to the evox folder - using my copy of the lastest version-  if anything - id really like 2 run that dash again

any suggestions?

QUOTE (pHrEaQuAzOiD @ Aug 26 2004, 10:05 PM)
......Right on.......Is there any way to fix whats going by unlocking my HD and somehow fixing the eeprom or is it totally a chip fix? I guess not if it's not booting from the original HD.....also is there a way to restore the original M$ bios with a chip and if so does the fact that my motherboard has the TSOP soldered have any consequence(i.e. XboX live or anything else having to do with the original bios)? Thanks for your help...... beerchug.gif

Sorry, don't mean to quote myself, but i edited my post as you were responding....just a couple other questions........
