you need hd key to lock hdd to load msdash and do you need to load msdash?
b/c you need your old containt to put in to your new hdd but may be slayer can do that for you.
get new hdd and let slayer do that for you ,that might work

b/c each xbox hdd has there own uniqe keys to operate in each xbox but since you don't have that keys code slayer's boot disk may be able to prepare new hdd for you try to find out  that your new hdd can lock with configmagic or not if it can you can use configmagic to create hdd keys to lock your hdd so you can be able to load ms dash

you only need the key to unlock the drive.
If the drive shipps unlocked then you have 2 choices:
1) leave it unlocked (fine for everything except Live)
2) lock it with your box.

QUOTE (jack2004 @ Jul 22 2004, 03:33 PM)
evox will work but original ms will not work

When i upgraded, i just removed my 8GB drive and and replaced it with a brand new 120GB drive (i did not lock the HD).

I put it in slayers to format, install dash and apps.

Slayer installed the original MSDash with the install.

As long as i have the chip ON, MSDash does work.

So i dont know what jack2004 means by the above post  blink.gif .

It is the MS bios that won't work with an unlocked HD, the MS dashboard will work fine with an unlocked HD.
