When I set up EvoX, I had the same problem. Because, I knew that I had burned a one megabyte Xecuter2 4981.67 bios to my Xecuter2 2.3B Pro chip after I installed it, I was able to open my evox.ini file and add an entry to it to make it recognize the BIOS as what I had burned.
Basically, if you open the evox.ini file and read it, you will see a configuration file section header titled "BIOS". Underneath that section header will be many lines. Lines that start with a pound '#' character are comments and are only used to describe what the other lines in the file are doing, in most cases. You will see a lot of lines that look like:
ROM = "Original 3944",0x542C62CB976A4993C8C5027DFF9638CE
ROM = "Original 4034",0xF20CD7574BB4B2A69810B2E9F766A90D
ROM = "EvoX 2.0",0x76fd88337b8d8c1f116f85f3984b98b6
ROM = "EvoX 2.1",0x99487615bb30670cb65993388fcf2a63
ROM = "EvoX 2.2",0x220ade778785cfc3c98bb5ea8bbd8608
...
If you scroll down to the end of the "BIOS section header, you will see a line starting with "Current =". Here is an example from my evox.ini file:
Current = 0x3d9243551e10ae7756b53d6ad8dad5cd
The value that "Current" is being set to is the current hexadecimal hash code for the one megabyte Xecuter2 4981.67 bios that is burned on my Xecuter2 2.3B Pro mod chip. The Slayer's CDROM created this value for me. The value is really unreadable by human beings and is auto-generated or so it seems. There should only be one "Current =" line in your evox.ini file.
However, I was able to append an extra "ROM =" line, after the last one already in the evox.ini file, for the Xecuter2 4981.67 bios and set it equal to the hash code that is set on my "Current =" line. Here is what my last "BIOS =" line looks like now:
ROM = "X2 4981.67",0x3d9243551e10ae7756b53d6ad8dad5cd
Note, that the hexacdecimal value is the same as the value that is on my "Current =" line. This is the important part.
I changed the evox.ini file to add this entry. I FTPed the new evox.ini file to the C:\ folder on my XBox and rebooted the XBox and it then displayed the BIOS on my Evox skin screen as "4681.67" instead of "Unknown"
I hope this information is helpful to you.
