M7 + Evox Can't Load Xromwell And The Like ?
« on: May 16, 2004, 09:24:00 PM »

Hi,

I have a strange problem here. I bought a used Xbox with M7 bios. After I upload a copy of Evoxdash to C:\, it would be loaded regardless if I follow the seller's instruction that the modified BIOS would only be activated by constantly pressing the power button. That is, once evoxdash.xbe is there, it would be loaded, always.

That is fine as I don't use live anyway. However, I failed to make evox to load any of the xbe that is designed to load linux. This include the font signed one in MechInstaller, audio signed one in audio exploit or even a newly built xromwell. Nevertheless, I can load xboxdash even if I copy it to E:\ and name it linux.xbe.

More interesting is, if I remove evoxdash so xboxdash.xbe is loaded, the audio exploit continue to work and I can boot linux without any problem. But if I launch MS dashboard through evox, the audio exploit would just reboot. So it seems that if there is no evox dash involved, the original BIOS is used(as audio exploit are supposed to be function only in original BIOS according to the author) but if evox is involved, everything turns weird.

Now I am confused.

Any hint on what is wrong ?

Some more information :

modified BIOS : M7
evox : 3921
xbox dash : 4920
MS BIOS : 5101(that is what it shown in dashboard info)

I have no idea what modchip is used.
