What a condescending post. Yes, if you do it manually, you will learn everything up front. But installing apps on an xbox is really freaking easy. If you do run into a problem down the road, you can learn how to configure them manually with very little effort.

That's right, it is really easy and it can be done with very little effort. So why shouldn't someone put forth that little bit of effort to understand what they are doing?

Using Slayers doesn't make me lazy or retarted. I work in IT, and when we install a new box, we don't sit in front of it and punch keys. We use install scripts or images. That doesn't make us lazy, either. It makes us effecient.
|
Am I wrong in assuming that you have some knowledge of how the scripts or images work? One look at these forums can show how effecient people are when trying to blindly mod their machines.

This isn't rocket science. Don't think that you're somehow technically savvy just becuase you copied a bunch of files into a directory and edited some .ini file.
Because it is indeed so easy to install apps on an xbox, I would argue that NOT using an auto-installer simply makes things tedious. I'd rather be playing a game, watching a movie, or *gasp* heading outside. |
Talk about condescending. I'm not pretending to be mr. fuckin wizard, nor am I trying to start a technical aptitude pissing contest. My whole point here is that this shit is simple if you take a little time to educate yourself.

| A noob who uses slayers, then posts a simple problem, isn't lazy because he used slayers. He's lazy because he posted before he read up on whatever problem he's having. They're 2 seperate issues. |
I'll admit the title could have been worded differently, however if they are seperate issues they are certainly closely related.

| Nothing like good ol' fashion learning. When using a disc that does everything for you, you fail to learn the general concepts and if something breaks you are back at square 1. I suggest reading a learning as it will make it a lot easier for you. |
EXACTLY!
As I said before, I don't have a problem with using slayers provided you have at least a basic understanding of what the hell it does. However, I do not agree that it provides a significant advantage over simply adding what apps you want, at least then you can have current files. Sure you have to go to all the trouble of making an image, I know how tedious this can be having to wait a minute or two.

Oh but wait! maybe the disc will burn faster without all that extra bullshit... just think of the time that could save you!
