X-DISK Or Slayer's Installer
« Reply #16 on: April 29, 2004, 09:36:00 PM »

Hi to all

I used to install everything manually, which I agree is the best way to do things !!.

I used to be an op in slayer till i saw the light "im now an outcast hehehe" so i can see the mess that the noob can get himself into even with half decent documentation, From using both slayers and firefuckers xdisk, which are fine but will in the end they will screw you up unless you learn to do it yourself. As a chip installer I have made my own dashboard/apps installer based upon Evo-X for the sole reason of speeding up my setup for "on-site" installs ect.

I might release this installer called "Sx-Evo-X" but I would NOT release ANY documentation with it, my thinking behind this is that if you need any docs to use it then you shouldnt be using it !!

We can all moan about installer tools and be "purist" and say learn to do it properly. Thats all well and good but in todays Lazy assed world today, most want everything done "yesterday" and for them. So if people are willing to give them that type of instant gratification there will always be the lazy only too ready to take the "quick fix" no work route.

On one hand auto installers are all things evil, but on the other hand for me my Installer is a work tool, to allow me to carry out my daily tasks faster nothing more nothing less, so for that reason alone I think its a great idea.

We could use the analogy that in the wrong hands a nuclear missle is a deadly weapon, but in the correct hands its a usefull and required deterrent. Any autoinstaller can be compared in this context, used properly an installer is a usefull tool but in the wrong hands a deadly weapon just waiting to bite the unweary and kill their xbox.

Regards

Any editing = spelling mistake removal
