With the HDD locked you can boot the retail bios so you're able to use live, if its unlocked then you'll just get a service error.


And kutluch, the newest EvoX (3935) should have the info for unlocking and locking the HDD in its evox.ini file, just remove the # from the front of the line  smile.gif

I am running a X2.3b Lite + chip, X4981.06 bios, Evox 3935.

I just installed a 160 GB HDD into my Xbox.  Installed some apps and Backed up some games.

Max Payne 2 does not work and freezes during "loading" of level 1 even when using my original dvd.   Someone told me this is due to the incorrect clock setting on MS Dashboard.

However, I cannot get to my original xbox dash.  Someone told me I need to lock my HDD for this.


So, what is the best way for me to Lock my upgraded HDD?

Can I simply do this from the Evox Menu?

Do I need to download config magic ?

No need to lock the drive...just add the following to your evox.ini in the menu

Thanks guys!

Here is what I did to fix it, very simple:

I simply copied everything from my old C drive backup to my xbox's C drive.

Now, when I have my x2.3+ disabled, it goes straight to the MS dash !
And, I can also jump to ms dash from Evox!

I'm really glad I didn't have to go through slayers auto install or re-install apps and evox and bla bla bla....

sweeeeet !

kutluch, did you get your xbox modded at pandora's cube in VA?

i got a modchip installed there and i think we have the exact same thing...

they put the same bios and chip in...

just wandering...

No, removing the # from the lock and unlock lines in the evox.ini adds the menu options in evox to lock and unlock.

The lines look like this:
#   Item "Lock Harddisk",@210
#   Item "Unlock Harddisk",@211

Simply delete the # from evox.ini and save it to the Xbox.

so evox locks it accordinly to YOUR eeprom?
does that mean if i were to ready a harddrive with exploit files, in order to get it to run i have to lock it with HIS eeprom with the calculated key from liveinfo right?

is there a way to get evox to lock it so it works on his box?
or do i have to do it the liveinfo and configmagic way...

Sounds like you've got a lousy install that's either trashed your M$ dash or renamed it (but can't find it).

You can get the M$ dash from #xbins.  Unpack the .rar file, boot your Xbox with the PC connected and FTP the files into the root of C: drive.  If the .rar file unpacks a folder called "cdrive" or something, move its CONTENTS across (xboxdash.xbe and all the other paraphernalia), not the cdrive folder itself.

Also, make sure your evox.ini knows where to find the M$ dash.  It's usually xboxdash.xbe but some installs rename it to msxboxdash.xbe and expect to find it there.  If this is the case you'll need to either rename the new xboxdash.xbe as msxboxdash.xbe BEFORE YOU COPY THE NEW DASH ACROSS, or rename your existing xboxdash.xbe as evoxdash.xbe (unless this already exists), again BEFORE YOU COPY THE NEW DASH ACROSS.
