burned the evox boot disc. in it i included the necessary files default.xbe, evox.ini etc used xiso to create iso. burned the iso with a 300mb dummy file.
burned it to a memorex cd-rw 700mb. and i got a error that reads your xbox cant read the disc check to see if it is dirty or damaged

Remember always use a VIRGIN DISK

remember when burning the evox file..you  already created as an ISO file
so when you burn dont create again....

If you use Nero Burning ROM

Follow this
Choose Recorder
Click Burn Image
Click where your Evox file is (already ISO file)
start burning
choose lowest speed if you can

Good Luck!

yep my xbox is modded with x2b lite +; 4981 bios.

When i boot up i get the green xbox screen and at the bottom below the logo it says xecuter2.  so i put the evox iso in the drive, reboot, the green xbox screen boots up says xecuter2 at the bottom then about 1 minute later it flashes can read the disc blah blah blah.

Is there any way i can ftp into my box with out having booted evox on my xbox and somehow install it some other way?

You appreciate your help!

ps. would my xbox ver 1.4 or 1.5 have a thompson drive in it?

another question.  i had a bad flash once and i downloaded an evoxbootcd that had the cromwell bios along with the two evox files default xbe and evox.ini.  Now when i boot up with that disc it goes to an evox screen and it has two option.  1 being flash bios and 2. applications on hdd.

does this mean that i have evox installed or what?

jtruck,we were having the same kinda problems and I got mine going.See my post right here called "another ftp question".It turned out to be the same problem that was keeping evox from loading.

two parts.

1.If you can read your evox disk from your computers file manager or my compter then your boot disk is wrong like mine was, when you get it right the disk will not read in your computer even though the information is there.

this is what tripped me up.
2.when you go to make you iso boot disk there are 2 different ways to do it.In nero ther is write cd and burn image and they are completly different. So if you didn't know this here is what you need to do
open nero..then OPEN your evox.iso then WRITE that file..NOT BURN AN IMAGE OF IT.
