Yes, but it's very insecure.  Make sure you change the password to something other than "xbox".

depends on the settings you had... your xbox should be getting a public ip, more than likely from your ISP dhcp, is it getting that and is that what you are trying to connect to?

just tried ICS. i'm on 98 SE. couldn't even connect to the net after trying that.

(USB to modem from this comp)
(NIC/Ethernet to xbox from this comp)

maybe this will help?

using info (IMDb) in XBMP with my crossover cable to the NIC card i get error: 1600 1600

using info (IMDb) in XBMP with patch to cable modem i get something like bad URL /find?....


in avalaunch i get absolutely nothing trying the IRC client both ways.

Oh man, if you already have crosover cable. Just direct connect to xbox from PC with FTP software.

IT works fine.  I have a simple 100mbit hub/switch (NOT a router) with the uplink plugged into my cable modem, and my PC and XBOX plugged into it.  Both units get a DHCP address from the ISP, and when you ftp between them (don't worry if the subnets aren't the same) the traffic won't go out through your ISP the switch will handle it.  I get an awesome ~10MB per second (that's Megabytes/sec, close to the theoretical maxim thruput).

Just change your default password, and disable telnet.  SImple

since you have an external IP you can access your box remotely.
