Hi all,

I've just switched on my Xbox, and after a few seconds I noticed that the screen would flicker every so often. I restarted the Xbox a few times but the result was the same.
Unlike most of the posts I found when searching the board, it happens every few seconds at varying points on the screen. I tried to ignore it initially, but with the image 'shaking' at various places every few seconds, it's impossible to concentrate on what I'm watching/playing.

At first I thought it might be my modchip being loose, but removing the chip and testing the box didn't get rid of the flickering. I then checked the TV reception and it was fine. So it's not the chip and not the chip itself sadly, and I'm hoping that it's not a sign that my box is about to die
I've not moved the box since the last time I used it either, so it's not rough treatment that's caused a problem.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is this a sign of a fading box do you think?

Well, I've fixed it

The AV cable I use for my Xbox is the one with the optical out connected to it, as opposed to the original. I replaced the cable with the original Xbox AV cable and the flicker disappeared. I've had the cable for ages so it must be a fault that's just developed, but thank god it's not my box!

Hopefully this might help someone else with the same problem. Check your cables.
