You need to change the original xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe

Good Luck

no..

my chip sees xboxdash.xbe if the chip isn't on. and evoxdash.xbe if the chip is on..

it's very smart..

I've done 20 of these so I know how they are supposed to work..

It did that to me once or twice.

All's I did was format the entire HD (Slayers or whatever) again, then rebuild it.

For some reason though, when I chose rebuild it didn't quite do everything the instructions said it would (format, install MSdash, Evox, Xbmp, etc) so I had to go back and do the seperate install evox only option..  So you may have to format and then do each selection individually (install msdash, then go install evox, etc.)

Good luck.

- This is maow logged on as unlikely

well I gave up on the original drive, and I tried a drive that I pulled out of another XBOX.

It has the SAME error.  Error 21.  So from that I knew that it wasn't the hard drive, or the contents on the hard drive.

So then I tried to boot up a "backup" and it would just go to black.  Then I tried an original, and once it loaded for a second but then it said dirty disc.

So I figured it was a bad DVD-ROM drive. (although I don't think that would stop xboxdash.xbe from being loaded)  So I swaped the DVD-ROM with another one, and same problems.

So now I know the DVD-DRIVE and Hard Drive work 100%.  So then I thought, maybe it's the chip?  So I disconnected the D0 and booted up the machine, and tried to boot an original (obviously) and guess what?  It still didn't boot the game.

So after a long night I stopped myself at 4am to go to sleep to go to work at 8:30am.  Tonight I will try to remove the chip and see what happens.  If it's the same problem, I'll have to swap the motherboard, which should fix this stupid problem.  But that's the WORST solution..

What get's me the most is, it boots up the EVO X cd fine, EVO X on the hard drive fine, and all the little applications fine, but whenever I try a game.. it doesn't work..

BLARG!

First off.. Make sure your using slayers 2.5 from here:
IRC:   snoop.burghcom.com and then join the room #slayers.
(Cause there's a hacked version going around that deletes files. So make sure you get it from here (the source) to avoid getting the hacked version.)

Second.. I had a similar problem last week.. Did alot of testing and reading.. And found this out.... Things to do:

-Boot up slayers Cd and run the region fix (bottom option) (this does not over-write anything on your hard drive.. Just resets your xbox's internal setting).
-Reboot box with Slayers Cd again and go into option to restore the M$ dash from a bad LIVe update.. This will install the original ms-dash files for version 1.x on your c-drive (forget exactly where the menu is.. But it's in a sub-menu). This option will over-write files on c: drive so backup your evox.ini first!

-Use cuteftp and edit your evox.ini. Make sure  MSDashBoard = "c:xboxdash.xbe".. If it's msxboxdash.xbe.. Change it.
-Once the msdash is working.. Check your date and time. Make sure they are correct. Cause your xbox might start fragging it it's not.
-Always leave your xbox plugged into a live outlet. Or it will loose it's date and time (and again, could start fragging).

Hope this helps.

And I saw your previous posts and tried what you said and still nothing. I think it may be a bad motherboard or something.

With every other XBOX I've done, all I had to do was copy evoxdash.xbe and evox.ini onto the hard drive and right after that everything was 100%.

I even formatted the drive, then copied a backup of a hard drive I know worked 100% and it still have me the exact same error. EVOX booted up (FROM CD and HardDrive) but the MS Dash and games (original and backup) still didn't work.

Go back where it started...

First
Did you make a backup copy of your M$ dashfile?
Did you change first original xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe?

If all fails...
Follow this..

do you know how to print your evox ini in here?

restart, its very simple

goto xbins and get latest evox build

*if u can ftp to xbox still*

delete evoxdash.xbe, and the ini, copy the evox .rar file into the c:

restart xbox

if that dont work ITS NOT EVOX either, and sumthen is SERIOUSLY wrong with your box!

just take a cd-r / cd-rw *i hope u have a saamsung drive*

and just copy the evox to a cdrw and stick it in, it should auto load!
