Some Files Just Won't Ftp
« on: January 08, 2004, 03:07:00 PM »

Evox 3921.
Using FileZilla FTP on PC to backup files from XB.
Everything works fine most of the time but occasionally files are missed or transferred as 0 bytes.
Most of them will xfer ok when done individually but once in a while there are some files no matter how many times I try just will not download.
Any ideas ?
Are there bugs in Evox FTP ?
Are these files corrupted ?

Do the files have long filenames?  The Xbox HDD can only create files with a maximum of 42 characters.

Thanks but no.

eg "tex73.dds"

I tried to copy the same file to the XB HDD in Boxplorer and got msg:
Copy stopped with error !!
Error copying file (filename)
Possible reason insufficient space on destination.

I know there is plenty of space. 749 MB.

I can only conclude that the source file itself is corrupt as this is a backup of a backup.
The file attributes say it is 2856 bytes but it is physically empty.

Is this feasible ?
It's the only explanation I can come up with.

What's the FTP error you get returned when trying to FTP them?
Probably a bit harder to understand, but if you look up the error code on google, it will make it clear.

I don't get an ftp error as such. It just won't recognise the file content.
Thanks again but it's irrelevant now as I have just discovered that you don't need the xb to backup a backup.
You can do it all on the PC.
Cheers.
