I'm getting ready to install a bigger drive in my v1.5 Xbox w/ 2.3Lite+, 4979.67 BIOS, and EvoX 3959.
Just want to make I got this right...
Back up original HD to PC.
Install new drive.
Install EvoX on new drive.
Send back up files from PC back to new drive.
Is that right?

Well I'm alittle confused bout that too. How do you actually install EvoX?
I made a EvoX boot disc, when I boot to that disc I get the EvoX dashboard. But if it is not in the drive I do not get the EvoX dashboard, so obviously it is not installed. So from there how do you actually install EvoX?

put in the disc after installing the HDD and there should be an option if your using slayer's to install with a bigger HDD. choose that. When that gets done take the disc out and reboot.

Well, I had EvoX installed on my stock drive, so I booted from an "EvoX HD Install Disc" (got as an iso from , well, you-know-where). One of the options on the EvoX menu was to format the drive, so I did. When done, I FTP'ed back all the stuff I had FTP'ed off the original drive. Of course, since Evox was on the original drive, it was now on the new one.
I removed the disc, rebooted and it booted EvoX off the HD.
I would assume that the Slayer's disc would give the same option and from the sounds of it, will install EvoX for you as well, although I did not need that.

I'm not using Slayers. Just plain EvoX 3935.
I don't have to install EvoX on the original drive do I?
I burned an ISO disc. (Skins Folder, Dummy File, default.xbe and the evox.ini.)
So shouldn't I be able to install with that disc?

You don't have to do anything to your original hdd if you're planning on taking it out. All you will need are the files that are on it. Installing evox on your new hdd without slayers is pretty simple. All you do is ftp in the files and rename default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe. Read more about that though in some tuts.
Put these files in whatever partition your bios is going to look for them. usually C
edit: you can use your 3935 disk. Either boot from that disk and ftp to your computer the contents of the disk to your computer for installation, or if you still have the files from before you made the disk...that'll work too.

The three files?
Skins Folder, default.xbe (evoxdash.xbe when I FTP it in) and the evox.ini.?

That's what I thought, cool. Just wanted to make sure.
But...
How does the Xbox know which to boot to?
If I wanted to go live, and the chip was disabled, would it automatically load the default MS desktop and interface?

With the chip disabled the box is only every going to boot "xboxdash.xbe", with the chip enabled it will boot "evoxdash.xbe" if it finds it.
