Slayer's 2.5 Install Cd
« on: December 23, 2003, 03:18:00 PM »

Thank you Muzeke. I had gotten an Xecuter 2.2 Pro and haven't installed it yet...Well fully. I got the chip in July, and started to research on xbox modifications over the past week. I downloaded the Slayers Auto Installer this morning and it took me 6 hours and 58 minutes on dial-up. Thanks alot for the info.

Slayer's 2.5 Install Cd

Since you guys know about slayers could you help me with this. Im using my factory xbox hdd. I just installed my chameleon and everything seemed to be going well.  I installed Xecutor2 BIOS sucesfully.  Then I started up Slayers Auto Installer. It recognized the disk, then I set used option 4: REBUILD HDD on V1.X SYTEM.  It seemed to copy all of the files sucessfully. So I turned off my XBOX and rebooted. And I got the screen of death, saying my XBOX needed service. It wont run my BIOS or SLayers CD. Only my Original XBOX games.  What do I do to fix this, and how can I prevent it from happening again? Thanks guys. Please help me out.

Hey Seedz,

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you turn the mod chip on? After installing Slayers one thing I noticed was that when I turn the mod chip off, it gives me error 13 and says I need to service it. The reason I think is because the xboxdash.xbe supplied by Slayers is not compatible with my 1.5 Xbox.

Hmm... If you turned on your Xbox w/o the mod chip, it wouldn't have read the Slayer's CD, but then again if it was able to read it, it should have been able to install everything.

Which version of Xecuter bios do you have on your chameleon?

I think Seedz now has a mix n match of different sets of M$ dashboard files on his X-box, some 10027100 and some 1012a700 which are incompatible and still give the error 13 even with the Modchip on.

He shouldnt have use the "REBUILD RETAIL HD" option. It wasnt what he intended to do he wanted to "INST/UPG XBMP, M$DASH, APPS & EVOX3921"

I dunno if Slayer ever considered this when he created the disc, there certainly isnt both sets of M$ dashboard files on his disc.

You'd have to search for more details on this "feature" of dashboards, I am sure the answer is already stored in these forums.

Later

test the cdrw this way
-burn a audio-cd with a few songs on it
-put it in xbox
-rip it to wmv with dashboards
if it works, slayers will also work

Sewfish,

You need the mod chip installed and enabled to be able to boot the Slayer CD. The main function of a mod chip is to run unsigned applications, and certainly Slayers auto install program is an unsigned app.

If you don't have a modchip installed and enabled, Xbox dashboard will come up with a message saying that the CD cannot be read.

So bite the bullet and put the chip in. It's not gonna do you much good outside the Xbox.

Seedz,

Try this. Do you have a backup of the xboxdash.xbe file that was on your factory hard drive? If so, just ftp it back into your xbox. If not, you must crack open your xbox, remove the large drive you have in there, replace it with your factory one, boot up with the Slayer CD.

Slayer should set up ftp on the xbox with IP number of 192.168.1.200 if you don't have a DHCP server in your home network. If you do, just turn the TV on and see what IP it received.

Now use a FTP client to ftp into your xbox. Just to be sure, copy everything from your xbox to your PC, and save it somewhere for safekeeping. Once that's done, go into the C drive, grab a copy of xboxdash.xbe and put it on your desktop.

Now replace your factory hard disk with the new one you had there before. Boot up with your Slayer CD again, ftp into it again, and replace the xboxdash.xbe you have on your PC's desktop onto it. Take out the Slayer CD from your xbox and reboot it. See what happens then.

Ok, got the chip in.  The XBIT shows a green light now and when I select to boot with the evox7 bios, it boots on into the original MS dashboard .. I'm assuming I can't really tell the difference because I haven't been able to get slayers disk to boot yet and install a new dashboard.   However, I've read the tutorials and it looks like my best bet would be to pull out my cdrw from my computer and hook it up along with the dvd player in the xbox for a temporary solution to load everything (and install a new hard drive).

Thanks for the help!
