Problem With Ftp.
« on: December 10, 2003, 05:38:00 PM »

I have Evox so it knows that there is a "100/Full Duplex" connectoin, but I cant get it to FTP anything.  In the blue writing under "networking" under IP, it says 0.0.0.0.  I am thinking that this is the problem, but I dont know what the real problem is.  I am using FlaxhFXP.  I caould use anyones help.

that is a problem.  Depends on your setup how you want to fix it....

Read my guide for starters and if you still can't figure it out post all your details and people can help you better.

I had the exact same problem. Under Ip was 0.0.0.0 while in my dashboard. I entered into the evox.ini and set static IP: Yes   and deleted any #'s under Defaultgateway. I then was able to FTP over.

Now, where it says IP in blue, it reads back the IP of the X-Box.  The connection is static, and there is a 100/full Duplex.  I still cant get into the HDD with FlashFXP.  And mrRobinson, I followed your tute, and it 1/2 worked.

Please HELP!!!

Well read the other half now then..  biggrin.gif

tell me what ip your xbox has and what ip does your computer have.
if you can actually just post the network section of your evox.ini and post the results of an ipconfig /all from a command prompt on your computer.

whatever nic you are plugging your xbox into on your computer, you need to set that ip address to 192.168.0.3 with subnet 255.255.255.0
right now it is set to dhcp.

I'm talking about this one:
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Primary WINS Server . . . . :
Secondary WINS Server . . . :
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . :
Lease Expires . . . . . . . :

not your usb cable modem, leave that alone.  but plug your xbox into this nic (the one referenced above) with a crossover cable.

This is a pic of the IP settings for my NIC card.  The ip for the PC is 192.168.0.3.  The PC has no DNS and No gateway settings, all is blank.  The ip for the X-Box is 192.168.0.2. or this...

[Network]

SetupNetwork = Yes
StaticIP = Yes
Ip = 192.168.0.2
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway =
DNS1 = 0.0.0.0
DNS2 = 0.0.0.0
SkipIfNoLink = No
SetupDelay = 0

i can't see the image for some reason... but based upon this:
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Primary WINS Server . . . . :
Secondary WINS Server . . . :
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . :
Lease Expires . . . . . . . :

your pc doesn't have an ip of 192.168.0.3
when you run ipconfig, the ip address you see there needs to be 192.168.0.3 on this adapter (not on the usb one).

Let's start over.

Tell me what exactly what kind of network your trying to establish.  pci card-crossover cable-xbox.  pci card-router-xbox.

I'll try and set you up from there.

I have a 10/100 network card running on Windows 98.  I am using the xbox link cable as the cross over cable.  I have set the IPs for xbox and the PC so they are different.  I am using FlashFXP but I cant connect to the xbox via FTP.  I have 2 evox boot discs (3921 and 3935) and when evox boots, and i go to settings, the IP adress of the x-box is written in blue.  SO it looks like this (written in blue):

Type             Static
IP                 (3921 boot disc) 192.114.0.5 (3935 boot disc) 192.168.0.3
Line Status  100/Duplex

If anyone can help me work this out, you will be my hero!!!!

I dont know if it matters but I am using a X2.3 lite with x2 4979.67.

You seem to have the same situation as me.  I noticed that you are using a DHCP.  I have that disabled.

Use the boot disk that has 192.168.0.3 on it.

Try it with DHCP disabled.

This is what I have and have never had a problem:

SetupNetwork   = Yes
StaticIP   = Yes
Ip      = 192.168.0.3
Subnetmask   = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway   =
DNS1      = 0.0.0.0
DNS2      = 0.0.0.0
SkipIfNoLink   = Yes

Do you have a firewall preventing you from getting in. Turn it off.

you're typing in 192.168.0.3 and xbox/xbox in flashfxp right?
