you need to make this ip say 192.168.0.2 on your computer. then it will work. google search on how to set you ip in win98.

tribefriend- How do I turn off the DHCP. I asked my dad about a fire wall and he said we had none.

mrRobinson- I will do a Google search later about that. Also, sould what i posedted be our old 56k modem? (we have a cable modem now)

Xena- I have re-started my computer after any ip changes. Thanks for the advise though.

I assume that your network card is what your cable modem is hooked up to to deliver your internet to your computer. Whatever USB or Ethernet port that your xbox is going into is the one that needs to be 192.168.0.2

I suggest a second NIC card devoted to xbox only, or get a router and you can set it up that way too. That is my current setup.

Try this: With your evox.ini file all configured and your crossover going into your NIC, go to the START menu...Run...type in WINIPCFG

select that NIC card from the drop down menu and then release all. Renew all and you might get 192.168.x.x

When i do the WINIPCFG, the card isnt on the list. Does that mean somthing bad?

Probably why your not connecting. If this card is active and you have used it before for internet connecting or such, then it should be listed as one of your networking options. Try looking for it in the Control Panel-Network icon. If you have used this port before, I don't understand why it wouldn't be listed. If you havn't used it before you should need to reinstall the software so windows can recognize it as a valid port.

The modem is hooked up via USB. The card is dedicated to X-Box. I have never really trransfered files using it though, so I guess you are right. I will fool areound with it when I get some free time (too much HW right now).

I believe he has an evox boot disk. His problem would indicate that it's not showing an ip when he boots from it.
