Im really sorry I dint see this topic sad.gif Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to use your xbox with a backend PC cheers (from what I have read it IS possible) And can someone tell me why cant video be captured from the ethernet port instead of the USB port, is it just because there have been no tv capture devices for ethernet?

Is there any app that allows me to record a TV program onto my Xbox (Like TiVo is). Im not sure if the hardware in the Xbox is adecute for a input video signal which will allow to record TV onto the Xbox's harddrive. Does it exist or can it be done?

Kind of.  But you have to run linux and a program called mythtv.  You also have to have a computer with a tv tuner for the xbox to connect to over a network. The computer would be your backend, and the xbox would be your frontend.  Check out www.mythtv.org for more details.

Personally I think its pointless trying to configure xbox to do the job of a comercially available pvr. Too many components to keep running and crappy flexibility.

Now, if you had a RePlay TV pvr, and xbmc hooked to your xbox, then you could use your xbox to stream movies recored on your RePlay TV. Heres the advantage.

Lets say your RePlay TV is in your Bedroom and your Xbox is in your livingroom, and both are connected to the same network. Then you could watch all your Replay TV recorded movies in your living room from your xbox. Its like having two pvr's, but the xbox is play only.

You trying searching..? Lets put it this way.. Youd have to run linux and use a USB tuner to connect the TV/DISH to the xbox. USB = slow = crap quality = not worth it.
