Hi,

I recently had to realign my matrix modchip for it to work and after hopefully successfully realigning the chip and putting back the DVD drive and my 120 GB HDD I boot the xbox and get an error 5. I understand what the error is but i dont knwo how to fix it in my case.

Any help would be apprciated.

do you know exactly what the error means?? I understand the definition....just not in my case......anyways....I think what Im gonna do is get a new modchip and hopefully find a new eeprom (which is probably quite easier said than done).....

Did you keep your retail BIOS? It's needed to lock the XBOX HD.

im not fucking with the eeprom because of the error 5.....im fucking with the eeprom because i accidentally switched the videomode to PAL and now i cant read through the black and white scrolling screen.......

well you been looking at the wrong information because your new Hdd is not locked. go to the tutorial and read what is the definition of your error. The only reason you get error 5 is that you need to lock your new HDD you can use configmagic or evox 3921 will do it for you.

well i cant get past the error 5 to get into EvoX to use configmagic to lock the HDD...

I have both. It started out as a scrolling screen after fucking with the videomode....then my crappy matrix chip got misaligned and then i got the error 5....And I guess the drive isnt locked anymore but i cant lock it now with the error 5

i flashed 2 different bioses on it, both relatively new and none worked. I also have Slayer's 2.5 installed as well........just booted with slayer's disc and still get error 5....i guess my only option is to get a new modchip but im wondering how that will help....
