Yep, those are great features....of EvoX.  Slayer did not implement these....

Slayer, what tweaking have you done with these apps to make them "more compatible"

EDIT: I should clarify that I'm really not flaming.  I'm with PlatinumSkater on this, and we're just pointing out the reality of the situation to those who think that Slayer's has all these features and advantages over a homemade disc that takes 3 seconds to make.  Also I realize he does not ask for it, but I think it's a bit unfair to give Slayer all kinds of credit for features that other developers have implemented.

All that has been done is that he saw a required need for an INSTALLER to ASSIST certian people who CANNOT do it manually.

And im not spouting bullshit either it, it can be easily proven that the installer is wanted and required by thousands of people the world over, if it was not required or want  it would never be used or downloaded now would it ? the stats for its download can be obtained from the irc channel, and its available at other locations also.

Oh and by the way the channel that provides the download has no personal interest in the installer and can be considered tottaly impartial,with regards to providing download ststs.

So to you minority of assholes who have nothing better to do than flame please return to those dask recesses where you all live .. up your own asses!!

If you can burn this .iso, you can make an cd with a filemanager and the apps on it.

I would like to think that "minority" of us who dont use this installer without understanding what it is are better off in the long run.

No, I simply had seen many posting before saying that they had figured it all out with 0 results. Go back and tell me when I said it was "pointleess" and that "someone should not waste their time with it".  I made that post after talking to HSDEMONZ, k3rn3l and Jokko, all of who were a bit sceptical at first.   Infact, I was sure that it would be done sometime, and I bought a 160 gig drive MONTHS before lba48 was possible on the xbox.

And what does that have to do with this discussion at all?

Hah, as far as I can tell everyone has been sensible and have making valid points so far apart from yourself. Not really helping the cause or improving the image of a 'Slayers' user in my opinion anyway   .

I don't want to knock what someone has created but I agree there is no way it warrants its own forum here. All it is is a collection of apps from the scene with a custom evox ini. I am sure it is useful for people but I regularly direct any 'noobs' away from it, instead pointing them to tutorials on setting things up themselves. I have spoken to too many people who wanted help after using this disc and it is difficult to troubleshoot when all someone can say is basically 'i put a disc in and pushed stuff, now its broke'.

I dont have a problem with the INSTALLER.  I have a problem with the fact that it gives 'newbs' an easy way out of READING before fucking with their xbox.  As a matter of fact, if it wasnt for the installer, I wouldnt know as much as I so about the scripting commands in evox.

Oh, and WOW, I dont think there should be a DEDICATED forum here for the installer.  I have no problems with how Slayer has his thread here, and I even try to help out in his thread now and then.  Why should this "tool" be given a forum when there are 100 other xbox apps that could also have one?  If someone started a "should dvd2xbox have its own forum", I would say no, do I have a problem with the app?  hell no.  Use your head people (people = 'Scotsman'/markduncan)

and yea he's pretty good with that scripting in evox, damn good
but i did all my xbox crap manually without reading stuff or asking questions
i just figured the shit out cuz it's too easy imo
slayer makes it so a 4 year old could set crap up
for noobs that never wanna update software, slayer's disc may be best thing in world
and btw slayer, good job with the scripting, i've checked it out for hell of it and looks like ya spent some time on it

Right, I guess you misunderstood the part where I said

I said it's unfair to give him credit for features implemented by the developers regardless of whether he asked for it or not.  Giving him credit for the installer is fine.  I just think it's unfair when people say, "Now I can flash my BIOS from within Slayer's! Thanks wolf!" My qualm with that is that it's EvoX's feature.

Wouldn't noobs just be asking the dumb questions that arise a few steps before having the evox dash on their xbox if slayer hadn't made his disc?

I think people are just upset that they worked a little bit to figure out how to mod their box and they feel like slayer is making it easy for everyone now. This little elite society of computer experts is being bombarded by people who haven't had to do the fieldwork. I read up and learned how to mod a box last may, so I can understand that point of view. But everyone on here has gotten help from a bunch of different people along the way, so don't nail somone to the wall for helping out a everyone.

My two cents. I respect everyone's opion on this thread except for the ones that have been bickering idiots, blamers, and namers.

i dont think that slayers needs a forum, for the simple fact that his instructions are detailed enough to suffice, for everything that his installer does.

There are so many xbox apps out there that it was a headache trying to find the right ones for my purposes.  Slayer put the best ones into an easy installer.

i used slayers and it made my modding experience a lot better.  i know how to install my own apps and have edited the evox .ini. but for me, slayers was the way to go.
