Ok if you think that SlaYer should get his own forum so people can discuss the auto-installer post a reply here...maybe it will be made.

i think that Slayers should of had a forum here for a while , but who am i lol anyways , if it wasnt for Slayers a whooooooooole lot of peeps would have never installed EvoX ya know what i mean

so my Vote is yes to the Slayers forum

Slayer needs to be kicked in the nuts for giving noobies to much power.
Just my 2 cents. You all could make your own slayer disk if you just read some stuff.

There's no problem in istalling evoX without the auto installer...
I installed EvoX 1 day after I got my chip, and I vere completely newbie..
All I read was one single tutorial, so I dunno why people need the installer.

The installer is for stupid people IMO.
The type who ask questions such as:

"Whats an ftp?"
"Is a NIC when somebody steals you xbox?"
"does a mod make my xbox grow stupid looking hair and sing beatle songs?"
"cool my xbox has a jewel can i sell it and make my money back?"

It's great Slayer took time out to make this but its nothing more than anyone with an ounce of common sense could do themselves so it doesn't really need it's own section i don't think. In saying that though perhaps we could have another section entitled "simple minded people" all the idiot's could go there and entertain themselves.

I agree, Slayers makes a totally easy process pointlessy easier.People need to learn that they just may have to read a README file every now and then. I think that by makin it where a newbie doesn't have to touch an ounce of documentation will only cause more problems for them later when something goes wrong.But since it's obvious that tons and tons of people use the Slayers installer then it would probably be a good idea to give him his own section of the evox forums

ok well excuse me for asking such a thing.

i happen to know a good bit of knowledge and AM learning in the modding field. I never ask those stupid questions suicide king, and for the rest of you just lay off, because i didn't want to get flamed at....i was just seeing if it was possible.

I don't recall saying you did!

And nobody is flaming anyone in particular it's just generalization.
But i guess it proves a point about people who use Slayers Auto install are unable to read

I don't think it warrants a forum here as the guy didn't write his own app. XBcopy, Enigmah Video Mode Switcher, BIOS Checker...where are their forums? They all made much larger contributions to the scene, and yet there is simply not enough for drive for them to warrant their own forum. Were Slayer's auto-installer to have never been born, then scene would be in no lesser condition (it would arguably be more refined because stupid people who shouldn't own a modded Xbox would not be calling it Slayer's dashboard).

Hi there,

Let me start of by saying NO, Slayer dosnt need his own forum.

Most of the stupid questions that fill his thread can be stopped if people just did a bit of reading before thay ask questions, most of the answers are there already.

As a newbie i made my own bootdisk and foud out later about Slayer's disk. I now use Slayers to help my friends mod there Xbox's just because its alot more faster than doing it manually with alot of options all in one place.

The Slayer's Auto-Installer i think is a great tool for newbies. But a tool is all it is.

There is always new version of apps and emu to upgrade your Xbox with after you use slayers so you still need to know the basics to setting up Evox.ini for networking and other things.

All i am trying to say is that these types of Installers provide the first step for newbies to understand how it all works and comes together on the Xbox. ( Or in some cases the lazy bastards dont have to do anything else after using the Auto-Installer )

LOL, in case anyone checked lately all these individual apps you mention and for which I never ever took credit, are designed more or less as standalone apps.

First it is always a pain to get them all and second they are not all compatible with each other or all the bioses or xbox versions. I am just making a coordonated effort to bridge all these separate entities.

During our testing, SS113 even lost an xbox to a bad bios, and there were numerous incompatibilities.

My installer tweaks the apps, makes them work with each other easier and better as well as providing safe software and extensive tutorials.

I am not asking for my own forum, I already man an IRC channel and spend countless hours every day helping people in it, but doing all this is still not enough for some folks.

I am the biggest proponent of reading documentation, but has anyone really looked at the docs some apps include, unless you're really experienced you're stuck.

Anyway, for anyone that needs it the IRC channel is open, for anyone that does not, stop wasting thread space and go make something creative of your own or donate some of your time to help out someone less experienced then yourself.

has anyone noticed, or found out that the xdisk thats being raved about is a "clone" of slayers installer' it based on the installer and the guy even discusses the thing over with wolf.

and as for the installer needing a forum of its own / No it does not.. well not here anyway, cause it wouldnt be understood and would only be flamed as is already happening.

Oh and by the way the slayers installer doesnt need a forum because it already has a IRC channel all to its self "which is nice..."

Agreed as to the disc being the kiss of death to noobs when it comes to diagnosing the inevitable problems later on. Everybody should configure at least one xbox on their own before relying on any tools that will do the job for them. The modded xbox is a great platform to introduce people to networking basics, XML and other essential computing skills, and having a disc do it for you is not teaching anybody anything.

To each their own tho, I guess some people just want it to work and dont really care to understand whats going on behind the scenes.
