So I should have a friend burn it to a DVD or I should use a DVD burner to burn the SLayer ISO?  I have a DVD burner and I could just try burning with that I guess...or I could quit being cheap and go but $30 dollar #&@*@^ DVD - Rs.  Good times
Thanks for the advice, and I still ahve the stock drive in the Xbox which would be...the Thomson

Man you need to hit MicroCenter... they have great deals all the time... even COmpusa... has DVD-r's for around $1 a piece... you can get a 2 pack of there brand for $1.99 at compusa (1x though, but who cares for a 108mb file).

same problem here so i decided to redo the damn iso again. in the iso format that came in did not work for my xbox. I have created two CDRW one with evolution x the latest one with box explorer and it  did recognize it. i customize it the way i wanted to i use up the whole 700MB. Then i burn slayer in the iso format it came in and my xbox did not recognize it and i was getting the error and same thing with my friends xbox. and then i did another iso format, extracted everything from the iso i dowloaded and redo it and this time it got recognize by my xbox.
my xbox came with a phillips dvd-rom  so try to do a iso again and it might work for you i am using memorex cdrw.

All right, I tried this whole XISO Manager, method, I unextracted the ISO and recreated it, came out bigger oddly enough...and it still didn't work.  I am now ready to blame it on my sony CD-RW's...I am going to go and buy some new media tomorrow I hope, though I may just borrow my friends DVD burner and pray that does some good for me.  wish me luck

im having the same problem on my 1.0 thomson.. tdk cd-rws dont work, maxwell cd-rws dont work, memorex cd-rws dont work. i have a dvd burner but it wont let me burn the iso to the dvd, it says i need cdr/rw media (nero). should i try another program to burn it to a dvd? or do i need to make the iso into a diffrent type of image that you can burn on a dvd?

thanks for anything!

Codence
I know that my DVD burner only worked with a certain kind of media, didn't like CD+R but would work with CD-R so keep that in mind.  Sounds like you and I are having almost the exact same problem.  What chip and BIOS are you using?
I am going for last resort and I am either going to try the tutorial where you just put a second CD drive on top of the original, or, if that doesn't work, I am going to put the Samsung in and see if that helps.  Samsung seems like a lot of work...but I have all ready wasted too much money and too much time to give up now.
Let me know if you get a breakthrough, I have used Sony and Memorex CD-RWs on my Xbox, don't know if that will help you are not but please post if you get it to work.  Thanks.
