Problem With Digital Out(coax) Mod
« on: May 18, 2004, 10:25:00 AM »

I recently modded my xbox with my own SPDIF out. When I boot it up the intro and the MS-Dash have perfect sound. But when I start up a game or movie there's no sound at all(Receiver says:"No Valid Signal"). When I turn off Dolby Digital 5.1 in the MSDash audio menu it works however.

Any ideas?

Forgive me if it's a dumb reply, but are you sure you soldered correctly? Dit you ground pin 18? I have had signal problems too, because I grounded the wrong pin.

Which xbox version do you have? Which mod did you try?

The funny thing is I didn't mod the xbox, but the AV-pack. I just used pin 1 and 3 going to the optical output.

The XBOX i use is a version 1.1 with an appleX-V bios.

Nope it should be working fine.  Unless your receiver doesn't support the sound mode you have your XBOX set to.
