RE Gibby's comment about the clock.

Don't think this is an answer to the original problem, but it's worth keeping an eye on the clock for general booting probs. I chipped a mates box over the weekend which hadn't been plugged in for a couple of months.

Wouldn't boot any CDRWs. Eventually stuck another drive in that already had evo on. Booted HD but still wouldn't boot CDRW. Finally realised that the clock had reset. Corrected it and everything worked fine again. Strange?

Ok, here I am to save you guys from tons of trouble. I have had this problem before and know pretty much exactly what is going on. For myself, I have a Matrix chip with pogo pins and one day I made the mistake fo making a bad flash. So I had to take out the modchip and reflash it with the hardware piece.

I put the chip back in and then the problem started that you described above. After a while I figured it out. This is what I did. Firstly, take the chip completely out. If you can reflash it with a piece of hardware that was sent with your chip. If you dont have one then use what ever form of flashing you are provided with.  Now the most important thing here is aligning the chip up on the board perfectly so that all connections are perfect.

Now, just to make perfect clarity, you need to flash your chip with a clean bios, such as the xecuter 4977, which I use. That is the biggest part of hte problem, bad images for bioses.  Now if you want to change parts of the bios like no ani startup, then use xbtool to do so, but with a clean bios, not one already modified.

And there you go, the way I fixed my problem, hope this helps you all out.

Good luck, and any more questions just pm me or ask.
