Alright, I promised results...
Here's what I have so far... yeah I know it isn't much, but it's a start. Its getting pretty damn boring changing a number, opening a program, IGR, seeing the new value, repeat as necessary... so I only tested up to 23. Note, not all numbers 1-23 are listed in the list, any that aren't listed showed N/A as a result.
1st column = HDD_Temp_ID value, 2nd column = <Temp3> result
1 - 0.0
3 - 191.0
4 - 116.0
5 - 0.0
7 - 0.0
9 - 34.0
11 - 0.0
12 - 116.0
Out of all that, my only promising bit of data is the value of 9 showing 34.0 C initially. To test this the only why I know how other than a thermometer, I started playing Time Splitters 2, which is on the HDD, and then I IGR'd back to the dash and the temp didn't change at all. Mind you I only played it for a couple minutes, but still, the HDD was in use, therefore generating heat.
Well, just having let it sit for a few minutes trying other values and typing this post, I went back to 9 from another value just to see if something changed, and voila! 35.0 C. By touching the top of the drive, it feels warm, but I can't be 100% certain about 35 C.
I left the Xbox off over dinner, and I just came back now and turned it on. Still shows 35 C even after having been off for 30 minutes or so. To me that doesn't look too promising, but I know nothing about the heat dissipation inside an Xbox, or a HDD either for that matter.
I know from watching the MB & CPU temps, they go up from 35 & 40 (respectively) right away as soon as I turn on the box and then sit at about 45 & 50 (respectively) after having been on a while or having played a game.
For those of you who had this work right away with the value of 194 and a reasonable <Temp3> output, does the temp fluctuate slowly? Rapidly? At all? Or does it just stay constant no matter what you're putting the HDD through?
I guess that's all for now. If anyone knows more about this, by all means...
Thanks!
