what type of chip do you have? If you have one that at least supports a 512KB bios you could flash the newest x2 bios and use the built in ftp to install evox. I think there are also a couple linux distros out that have support for the fatx filesystem. I don't know much about that though. The first option is probably the easiest. Post a little more info on your system and what you're doing & using: cd-rw media, how you're burning you disc, mod chip, etc etc. Good luck.

Try a DVD-R...not RW.

The only problem is that my wireless router does not support the subnet mask, and unless im missing something, it wont conect to the server.

its sad that clueless people can afford such hardware. If you're so technologically inept, you could always try using a crossover cable to your pc, but i guess you'd probably try and tell me it doesnt support the subnet mask either

Thanks for the very nice and unflaming post asshole. I did know that. Its just more convenient to use my wireless network, then to haul my xbox to my room and back. I also dont have a TV there, so its kinda hard to see if it worked or not without some extra labor. my room and living room are both VERY messy and unorganized.

Convenient or not, if your current system isn't working, why not give the cross-over idea a try? I think it might be slightly easier than asking someone for a DVD-R in the mail...

First - I use the version of 4978 that supports DHCP, this was one of the interim versions, not sure if it is in the final. The name of the file had something like 192_168_0_9 in it as it uses this IP IF it cannot get a DHCP lease.

Second - Your switch should supporft the subnet, maybe not for DHCP but it should support it. Try setting the IP address manually on your PC to 192.168.0.2 / 255.255.0.0 and connecting. If you don't use DHCP then within your network the router is just a simple switch.

Third - after my trials an tribulations with media I found that BY FAR the easiest solution was a $1.99 power cable splitter and putting my PC DVD-ROM into the XBox. Then again you might have to carry it into another room, that may be a no-no.

Real depends if you want it to work or not.

Plus you don't need a TV.  This just mean you have to walk back and forwards between rooms, but so what!

If you want it to work you need to put some more thought into things yourself.

use a cross over cable and get the thing sorted out, then p1ss about with wireless.

Hey, this is a suggestion based on what I had to do.
Being I live in an apartment by myself I only have 1 TV in the living room.
But my PC is in my bedroom, much like yourself  I faced the dilema of how to
test changes made to the box after FTP with out going back and forth.

Answer to this was my DV mini cam.
It has a 2+ inch LCD that I use as a monitor.
I plug the S-video out of the XboX into the S-Video in on the cam corder
and keep it on pause, so to display the image on the LCD.
Its small but it works well enough.

This is modding, there is no guide echetd in stone,
some of this stuff you have to figure out for yourself,
or at least research.  Asking Folks to send you software made
from copywritten M$ Code (illegal) is probably not going to go
over well with the moderators of forums like this or the
"enthusious" crowd that enjoy the hobby of modding,
hardware-hacking and software-engineering, who feel that
in order to keep it alive we must keep it underground.

What about non-flashable MOD chips? What are we supposed to do? Can we still use the new version of EvoX Dash?

Thanks in advance.

YOu are totally and completely right. Thank you for hitting me over the head with realization. I could probably stop whining and just get a really long extension cord or something so that i dont have to dig for my power strip. ok. thanks. Sorry for most likely breaking the rules :
