Deleted everything?

You did NOT need to do that. It's error 16 because it cannot find a valid dashboard XBE. "default.xbe" is not looked for by the system on C:\ - you should have named it evoxdash.xbe or whatever the BIOS you use looks for. You could have left all of  the other files there.

Is this a locked hard drive? Do you have a back up of the EEPROM saved?

Somehow, you will need to get the system booted up (via Evo-X or MXM boot disk) so you can FTP into it. If you are running an X2 BIOS, you will need to burn (if possible) the Evo-X D.6 BIOS to allow you to boot from the DVD. The X2 BIOS doesn't boot from the DVD if the files are hosed on the HD.

Also, do not use thread titles like "big problem" - it will earn you a thrad title change or an outright deletion.

Sorry sad.gif
I have a complete backup of the C:

Yes it's a locked drive, Backup of the what EEPROM? I don't think so unless it was in C:/

Okay I'm going to try the Evo-X D.6 Bios but I'm still confused,
Once I burn it do I just switch to the #2  #3 #4 slots (one of them) and put it in boot it up.

Once it's done being flashed, pop in the EvoX* Disc and it'll work.

*I'll stay with MXM let me get everything sorted out.

[Edit: I've downloaded so far EvoxD6_bfm - bootable from media]

No, don't use the BFM BIOS. Find a "clean" Evo-X D.6 BIOS and burn that into a bank.

Go to the "Everything you must know about the Xbox" thread in General Chat and read it over thoroughly.

Once you have the new BIOS there, boot using an Evo-X dashboard boot disc (You could also do this with MXM, but you'd have to set up your FTP parameters and such, probably)

If you have a Samsung DVD drive, booting with a burned disc should be no problem, otherwise, expect some issues. Add some dummy files and use a CD-RW or DVD recordable, otherwise.

Slayers disc is nice as a boot disc, since it's filled with files (no "dummy files" needed) and can restore your system almost to factory condition.

Found a "clean" bios I did a full erase on the CD-RW and am now burning at 2x it's memorex CD-RW all I have.

I do have a Samsung, I know they're good for CD-RWs,etc.

Once it's done burning I am going to place it in and restart,
If it still doesn't work I will then flip the switch to 2 and try that.
If it STILL doesn't work, Then I will get Flash X from the looks of 1.1 you don't need a dashboard installed, i.e- my situation.. am I right?

Thanks Ben, Appreciate all this very much!

You are planning on burning the chip through the Xbox? I was under the impression you had an externally flashable modchip. If it's an X2 Pro, PC Bioxx or Chameleon (with a Matrix programmer), you will have to flash it using your PC with the Evo-X D.6 BIOS.

The problem with the X2 BIOS is that NOTHING WILL BOOT when you hose your hard drive. That's why you need to replace the BIOS with D.6, which should boot from your DVD drive.

Okay here is where I stand,
It's a FlashBios Screen and ejects the tray all switches down but #2, it is up towards on.

So I figure OK it says it Wants to update the Bios,
I burn the BIN of the EvoX D6 bios and then I put it in the xbox..

It doesn't load, it gives a bunch of hash marks `'GC or whatever.
Basiclly, Bios not found.. Halting!

But it's on the disc!
I had did a quick erase, it's erasing it fully now and I'll retry.

People tell me to do track at once, but in My Nero Enterprise Edition the Write CD in the File menu is grayed out.

If you have a samsung, just burn a CD-R. Much easier to deal with.

P.S. On the X2 pro you need to have all the switches off except #4 (If I recall correctly), after booting up but before flashing.

OK It Flashes. It then powered off. I don't see an Xecutor logo.

Now should I keep all switches down but #4 and try booting the boot discs?

I don't think it matters... you've basically flashed the entire chip with D.6.

Try and boot with a dash boot disc.

Could you possibily email me one thats like a BIN for MXM Boot. I know its not technically allowed but I am still getting error16 except this one looks WAY diffrent for one there is no half screen, etc.

[email protected]

My sig:

Lastly, do NOT ask me for binaries. For obvious reasons, I cannot give them to you.

Technically, and nontechnically, it's not allowed.

If you are still getting the error, then you probably don't have the boot CD set up correctly.

Find "Slayer's" disc in "The Usual Places" (That's ALL the help anybody can give you here on that count) and use that to boot your system.

The Xbox boots xboxdash.xbe from the hard drive's C:\ partition, but default.xbe from the DVD drive. make sure files are named correctly.

Need to make it a UDF image, NOT an ISO image. That, or use one of the proggies that makes XBox ISOs (your choice, UDF and XISO works equally well).

LDW is correct.

You need to use an ISO creation program for Xbox to "see" the file system. (This is different than what the Cromwell Flash BIOS uses).

There are some freeware Xbox ISO image builders out there. Avoid XISO for creating images, though.

Hmmm... I've heard people say Nero doesn't burn UDF for Xbox well. I've always used RecordNow Max (AKA Prassi PrimoDVD).

But maybe it will work for you.

OK. Can you just walk me through the whole process?

Correct me at least..

Craxation: Selected default.xbe and MXM.xml then made ISO
RecordNow Max: *??*

*??* so what do I do now.

There are tutorials and pinned threads for that. Check in the DVD/ISO Creation forum.
