I'm new to modding, and I've figured out how to back up games through FTP, but I just installed a chip for my friend, and he's really computer illiterate! Is there away to rip games off the DVD to back them up? I've been looking around, and I can't find any info.

So there is no way to rip a game directly from the DVD-ROM to the HD? I swear my friend said he can do that.

xbcopy
HDDloader

Look for those apps

and yes, that is how you back them up via the xbox DVD drive

With boxplorer, can you view the contents of each partition? That would be very useful! I did DL XBcopy, however, and it's nice and simple.

i recommend HDD Loader. some games don't seem to work correctly using HBCopy, but HDD Loader works like a charm.

dvd2xbox is what I use.

HDDloader is too proprietary, you cannot choose where you want your files to go, the just go where they want them to go. No good.

I would use boxplorer or dvd2xbox. try them both see what you like better. I've used boxplorer for about 30 games, managing my folders, etc and no problems.
