On the left display, find your way to your good ole EvoX folder. Find that default.xbe of yours and right click it. Rename it to evoxdash.xbe.  Drag it over into the C: on the xbox. This makes your temporary FTP server into a permanent one. This is also how you replace your dashboard.

Going through the documents making sure I am ready to conduct my install tonight, and in looking at the instructions, shouldn't I also copy over my evox.ini file, in addition to my renamed evoxdash.xbe file to the root of my xbox's c drive?  This isn't mentioned in this tut, but I am assuming it needs to be there, correct?

QUOTE (82ross @ Mar 17 2004, 12:19 AM)
You may want to add that a dummy file which is alphabetically later than default.xbe is pretty darn useless. The method used will most likely end up with files starting with "a" getting burned on the disc before files starting with "z".

The purpose of the dummy file is to push the files you want away from the very center/beginning of the disc which is harder to read on poorer dvd drives.

Just say something like call the dummy file 0000000.dat (zeros) to make sure it is first thing onto the disc

i just modded my Xbox with Xecuter2.3Lite Plus.

Step 1- When i turn on my Xbox, this is the 1st thing i see.

Step 2- I burn the Xecuter BIOS.bin (512kb) onto a Maxell 4x CD-RW and put it into my Xbox. Load it...

Step 4- I go to the Evox folder that i have downloaded onto my PC and rename xboxdash.xbe (or something like that) to default.xbe

I was having the exact same problem with my x2lite+ for the longest of time, but I've finally figured it out.   The bios that i was trying to use was the 256k m7 bios.   I flashed that bios and it appeared to work, but every time I rebooted, the flashbios screen would appear once again.

It seems as though the x2 chip wants a 1024k bios file, not a 256 or 512 as you and I were using.  I used Xecuter2 BIOS Manager to make my bios file 1MB (there are some good tuts out there on how to use it...forgot where i found it though, sorry).  I re-burned my bios disc, did a flash, and it worked perfectly.

Hope this helps.

First question: Do you need a modchip for evox to work?

Second question: If you don't, does this mean i can ftp stuff like snes roms and halo nmp on my xbox?

Thanks for the help

i use a tdk cd-rw but i can't get it to work. i have a xecuter 2.2lite. i have a evox folder with all those files then i renamed the thing to default.xbe. Put in a zipped dummy file  '64 mbs'. But i am a bit hazy with the craxtion bit. Do i click on the evox folder i created and let it find the file and do create then save it to my documents then i get nero 5.5 and do the iso burning thing. but when i put it in the box, turn it off then restart it still doesn't work. It comes up with this disc is dirty or damage masseage.

What am i doing wrong? uhh.gif

Can I use Qwix instead of Craxten or what ever its called?
Because I did exactly what you said except I used Qwix to make the .iso and I
keep getting a dirty disc error thing.
