New Evox Auto-installer
« on: August 10, 2003, 02:15:00 PM »

I thought it would be good to compile a list of "requests" if you will for a new EvoX Auto-Installer if someone like oh I don't know ... me was to make one.

List all things that you would like to see as added features, I have been working on a dual-installer for both MXM and Evox, but I am focusing mainly on Evox and installing a basic MXM configuration will just be a bonus feature for now.

So lets have your want lists, be specific.  List apps and versions, as well as utilities and features.    Go!

That's pretty funny.

I have been setting this up for myself since I do a lot of new XBOX setups and it has become quite a nuisance to install all the apps after doing a manual or Evox Auto-Install, and Slayers has become somewhat outdated.  I would be more than happy to collaborate though.  I think that a good installer would be something that we all could use.  Not that there aren't good ones out there, but they just need to be updated much more quickly.  There are just too many new apps and utilities, and bios' and dash's.

Let me throw something together and iso it up and I will get your email or I will set up an FTP for you to take a look at what I am working on.  Give me a few days to clean it all up (I have a bit of OCD when it comes to things like this.  I like them to be "pretty").

I have a working copy now that does the MXM or EvoX install.  It still have to configure MXM to recognize the games/apps/utilities folders, EvoX already does.  So far what I have is less than 250MB.  I am thinking of adding another dash to the mix.

I guess that nobody other than SON would have any input as to what apps they want though  dry.gif .

I guess I am on my own.

I can get you a copy as soon as I think it is ready for testing, like a week or so.  I need to run through all the options myself and make sure that there are no errors, if this thing is going to have my name on it, I want it to be somewhat stable even in beta.

The media player is no problem, I am curious why you would want to boot EvoX off of the F: drive though.

Well the easy fix is to create a boot CD and the menu on the CD can point to your evoxdash.xbe on your f:.  That would require you to boot off of the CD all the time though, not something I would want to do.

...i thought we were working together on this...cause if so...if you came to me first...i would have informed you that the above procedure is TOTALLY UNNECCESARY...you can create a BIOS that boots from the E or F partition...no need for a CD.

This project sounds good guys, cant wait for a release, maybe add in an app to copy games to HD? Xcommander or Boxplorer?
