Lost Ftp Access To Xbox!

QUOTE
I get a new item called "PPP adaptor," which has an IP address of 0.0.0.0.

This is for your analog modem, it is a Point to Point Protocol adapter.  Click the drop down arrow to get the IP of your network adapter.   If there is not another option in the list then you need to reinstall your network adapter driver.

If I go to "system utilities" and "settings," I get an IP address of 0.0.0.0.

You will need to set a static IP if you do not have a router that hands out DCHP IP addresses.  Just use 192.168.0.2 for your PC and 192.168.0.3 for the box.  The subnet should bd 255.255.255.0 and the gateway can be left blank.

Dude, you confusing.

You pc must have an IP address, do you have an ethernet card in it?  Is it set to dhcp?  PPP adapters is what WME usually calls modems.  Also what type of router do you have?  How many ports does the router have?  If your using evox and want dhcp make sure you set static=no.  Please post us some more ip info on your setup.

I have a BEFW11S4 Linksys router with four ports. Everything was working fine before I reinstalled my operating system. I didn't have to configure everything. My router just assigned my Xbox an IP address and I would connect with FlashFXP. I definitely have an Ethernet card, as my Xbox was working without problems over a network before with the same computer.

great, thanks.  First you may want to make sure your WinME installed the driver and adapter.  If you go into the network settings you should see an adapter and tcp/ip for it.  Correct?  Do this, Start-Run-Command.  Type "ipconfig".  Please document what you see.  How many adapters and what IPs.

I get two adaptors. One has an IP of 192.168.1.103 and the other is 0.0.0.0 (what shows up as IP in the settings menu of EvoX).

In evox have you set "static=no"?  If you were getting an xbox ip before and now your not I think you have some other issues.

"Use Static IP" is set to no. I did get an IP before, but note that that was before I reinstalled the operating system. Any ideas?

Is your xbox connected to your pc directly?

No, it is connected through a router via an RJ45 cable.

I dont see any reason upgrading your pc's os would affect your evox ip.  If your router is still serving dhcp then your xbox should get and IP.  Maby reboot your router and restart your xbox.  If that dont get you an ip in evox try unplugging everything besides the xbox from the router.

Thank you for your help. I just left the router unplugged for a while and then gave it power again, rebooted Xbox and PC, and it had an IP address.
