strange indeed... im REALLY also wondering if i upgrade to a larger HD , if this will have the same effect... F: being slow as hell...

when you get a larger hd what determines the amount of space per partition..?..

Well yall are lucky compared to me... My PC to XBOX speeds arent half bad, atleast 1 MBps. But when it cxomes down to Xbox to PS (no matter what drive im transfering or what file) it only goes MAYBE 7 KBps. This is terribly slow, and its REALLY annoying! Can someone tell me whats going on? and I know its not the client, Ive used FlashFXP, WS_FTP, Total connect, and Webdirect. All do exactly the same. Please help I dont feel like waiting hours to backup my xbox hdd to my pc hdd....

Agreed with this slow speeds on F:

I routinely get 6MBps to E:, but only 400kBps to F: - this is with the stock drive using either EvoX or XBMP (Filezilla server) and doesn't seem to be effected on the client I'm using on the PC (Tried BulletProof, FlashFXP, and commandline FTP)

Is there some technical reason for this?

with a new drive you will get constant high speeds.  i get between 3-10mb/s when transferring (depending if i send from fat32 (faster) or ntfs (slower) )  and if it is lots of small files you will get a lame speed.  the reason could be that the drive is too small to read/write to efficiently.  could also be if the xbox is overheating... not sure, just throwing ides into the blue

Exact same thing happens with me. Actually, no it's not. My PC to Xbox speeds are always about 300k/sec. My Xbox to PC speeds still hella slow though. 3k/sec and less.  dry.gif

I'm beginning to think it may be my card, because the Xbox to PC speeds are far better on my cuzs computer. Altho his PC to Xbox is also pretty screwy...

I have noticed HUGE speed defeciency when the xbox' HDD space left < 1gb.

Run some tests based around this theory, see if its the same for you..

Oh, and if you're wondering I haven't upgraded the box' HDD - managing with 5Gb

true dat!....my network hasn't changed at all since september 2002...I use crossover cable nic to nic and still use an original seagate HDD.....When I first started backing up my games, I would always get around 4.5MB or 5MB (from PC to Xbox) 5MB was the highest I think.....now I have around 170MB free on E:, 700MB free on F:, and 330MB free on C:

My speed yesterday, from PC to Xbox, was 380K to 400K.....when the connection is first established, it almost hits 1MB/s but quickly drops down to the 400K range....I'd say that part of the problem is partly free space related.
