You can't get back into your xbox's hd with your pc. You need a new boot disk, until then you're up shit's creek. Doesn't sound like your xbox is crashing though, if you are getting the green x and the m$ logo it sounds like your bios isn't loading or your chip is disabled. Did you write a new bios to your chip and has it booted since?

No, you can´t put the harddrive in a pc (not that I know of), you´re only option is to make a evox boot-cd and launch it. Should be some topic around here about what cd-rw brands works with the xbox.

Yeah, just make an EvoX boot CDRW, boot from it and setup FTP again. Once connection is made between PC and Xbox just copy over your original backup of your C drive. That is if you kept a clean copy.

If all else fails then this sure fire method should work but you would another modded and fully working xbox and say Slayer 2.1

take lids off both xbox's

bottom xbox is a pukka working modded one - hopefully one that will read cdr or cdrw like philips or best of all samsung drive. Connect all leads to this and a pad - getting it all ready and unhook the ide cable from the h/d cradle hook too. Don't switch it on just yet but ya gonna use this one on ya telly......

Now before you power up anything, position the duff xbox on top at an angle so that the ide cable from the first pukka xbox will reach it - you may need to support the xbox a bit with some video cases/books etc.....

Good almost ready - connect a power lead & AV cable too......

OK here goes - first pukka xbox switch on and boot slayer 2.1 disc as if you was gonna install.....

now boot the moody xbox and wait a while - hopefully it may go red/green crash

give it a good bit of time to finish it's attempt at booting though.....

now both xbox's should of finished doing what they wanted to do and just be sitting there -maybe the moody is flashing red/green error etc.....

NOW CAREFULLY - very carefully unplug the ide leads and plug the pukka ide lead into the duff xbox

you now should be able to control the duff xbox's drive via the pukka one hooked up to ya telly

go to slayer menu and select install RETAIL - most important as this will re-do all but ya F drive - this will leave ya F drive untouched coz it ain't there on retail xbox - trust me

turn off both xboxes - replugg the leads back in and should now work

this has sorted a number of dash problems for me - error 16, hanging at boot screen, time n date on a bad ms dash etc....
even when peeps have fucked up their xbox dash and removed the mod - still sorted and got me to a working dashboard and then I just re-installed mod/tsop flash

OK the install dash option maybe a bit drastic - perhaps if you had a backup of the old evox.ini you could copy it over with boxexplorer or even shove in a LIVE update disc or something - heck you may be able to ftp but I ain't 100% sure coz I just took the easy "re-do retail" option that is 4 mins on slayer 2.1

Of course you need the other modded xbox but it does bloomin' work coz the moody drive is unlocked and then hot-swap it and use the other xbox to sort out the problem

lmk how ya get on - but I reckon this should work for you like it has for me about 3 times now

The worst time i had in my life was when the company i worked for flew me to london (actually it was hursley) to do shit at IBM... anyway it was horrible.  I couldn't understand people, the food sucked( it was also during that mad cow time), and the hotel had what they called a "thatched" roof which i thought was something nice but turned out to be straw... (imagine that!)  This was about 2 years ago and it was the first time I had to use a modem for years...  

anyway, ever since that trip a part of me wishes that island sinks into the sea...  

oh and to top it off ... they had a "heated" towel rack... well that fuckin thing was at least 200 degrees and burnt my hand ( i have a scar) and this was on day 2 of 10.  for the rest of the trip anything metal in the room i had to touch (like door knob etc) i instinctively pulled my hand away really fast at first before touching it again.
