I have XBMP, and I FTP'd Road to Perdition to my PC HD. (There where two folders on the Disc). Then I FTP'd them back to my XBOX HD. I tried to view it in XBMP but all I saw where the two folders and audio that sounded scratchy. Is this because DVD's are Read-Only? Or is there a program for EvolutionX that executes the DVD from the HD? My DVDX v2 works great with discs, but not DVD's on the HD. I think it's cause there is no path...

ya something like that. What I want to be able to do is be able to watch DVD movies with out the disc. I want to be able to scroll through EvoX or XBMP and select the movie I want to see and watch it. Straight off the HD. Has anyone been able to do this? I don't think it's possible. Any input would be great.

If you rip the files with your pc, and re-encode them as divx, you can ftp them over to the box then. DVD protection prevents it from being ripped normally.

oh kool. But how do I encode them? Any good software recomendations? And how long does it take?

took about 5 hrs to rip, and about 10 hrs to record (i have a PII 450Mhz). Can't help you with software, cause I don't know how legal it is. Try a google search for How to make DIVx or something like that.

your better off downloading divx off the net
i find it a bit quicker

Okay try

option 1
vcdhelp.com for tutorial on ripping en encoding movies from all media to all media (dvd-dvd/dvd-divx/dvd-(s)vcd/ etc etc)

option 2
download the movie from the internet with kazaa/emule/edonkey/overnet or whatever

option 3
download the movie from newsgroups

You CAN select the VOB file.. I tried it, it worked for a minute or two, but it locked up. I decided I didnt REALLY need to do that, because I just use dvdx2, but I also only use my actual dvds. Like I said, you can play the VOB files, but I wouldnt expect it to be very reliable.

Gordian Knot is a compilation program that can rip DVDs and encode to Divx. There is a fairly high learning curve and it takes a while for your PC to complete the job. There are also forums on that site if you need help with it.

if you unlock the .vobs then xbmp will play then. the reason its all shity is that its lock. so you need to get a good dvd-ripper. i recommend smart-ripper. http://www.vcdhelp.com
