Can You Change Ftp Port 21 To Something Else?

QUOTE (yellow @ Jun 25 2003, 03:32 PM)
my home subnet is 192.168.1.x
my work subnet is 192.168.100.x

Remember I can telnet.  so it's not a problem with ip configurations.

I might try MXM tonight.

btw, anybody know what the commands are that are usable via telnet? is there a reference somewhere?

BenJeremy: does the data port always have to be 20?

No, the data port is randomly assigned, actually.

The router should intercept the FTPcommand channel and re-route accordningly, from what I've gathered.

Both subnet have mask 255.255.255.0 correct?

Yes but I don't see how that can be a problem.   It should not even be an issue.

If one or the other was something like 255.255.0.0 it would treat the other ip address as being on the same lan.  It would not try to route out the gateway.

I'll give that a shot tonight when I can get my hands on my xbox at home.
