Ftp Setup Problems...
« on: June 21, 2003, 02:08:00 PM »

I have been trying for a long time now to get FTP access to my Xbox, but so far have had no luck. I've tried everything I can think of, and have still yet to ping my Xbox.

Here is all the info I have:

Evox Settings:

Top (Blue):
Type:.................[Blank]
IP:.....................0.0.0.0
Line Status:......100\Full Duplex

Static:..........................Yes
IP:...............................192.168.0.3
Subnet Mask:..............255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:........192.168.0.3

Computer Settings:

NIConnector 1: Computer to Router

IP:............................192.168.254.3
Subnet Mask:...........255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:.....192.168.254.254

NIConnector 2: Xbox to Computer

IP:............................192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask:...........255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:.....192.168.0.1

I have no idea if this is even set up correctly (it obviously must not be), but I've tried many other combinations, but this is the most recent (using info for tutorials). I have been playing Xbox on XbConnect for a long time though, so the data is getting through.

I really would like to get FTP set up, but I've been trying for so long that is seems like a distant dream...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What? That's... that was all I had to do?  huh.gif  huh.gif

IT WORKS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN!!!!  laugh.gif

I don't know what else to say, but thanks man... I can finally rest easy again.  biggrin.gif

However, I seem to have found a little snag. It seems that when my Xbox is turned on now, I can't access the internet.

I tried many times (with Xbox on) to connect to the internet, but no luck.

As soon as I turned it off, I was able to connect to the internet.

Any idea of why this is, or whether or not it will affect XbConnect?

Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I got it fully working now, just by changing the Default Gateway on NIC #2 (PC to Xbox) to [Blank] (i.e... nothing).

Thank you so much, for I now have a fully networked Xbox!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

Maybe you should try to set Static = YES and Xbox IP to 192.168.0.3, because I have almost the exact same setup as you except for those differences...

I have a few ideas, and here they are:

-Make sure your NIC in your PC is set to 100\Full Duplex Mode (or Auto Mode)

-Make sure you are using a Cross-over cable

-Set DNS (in Evox) to 1.0.0.0 (first one) and 2.0.0.0 (second one). I'm not sure if this changes anything, but it's what I have on mine.

-Try to ping your Xbox through dos-prompt to see if connection is even made. (Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > Type "ping [insert xbox IP]" and press enter

-Set FlashFXP to not use Passive mode

That is all I can think of right now, and I hope you can get yours set up the same as mine...

This is exactly what you need to do.  Set static to yes and change your xbox ip to 192.168.0.3
the error screen shows you trying to connect to 192.168.0.2 so you didn't change your xbox ip which you need to do.

and really the gateway doesn't matter when going directly to xbox, just shouldn't be same as your ip address.

This is exactly what you need to do.  Set static to yes and change your xbox ip to 192.169.0.3

192.169.0.3 is it169 instead of 168?

ok so what is the input in the ftp?

ok should I put the same xbox ip in the ftp bar right?
[I.E. xbox ip 192.168.0.3 then i would put 192.168.0.3 in the ftp browser with xbox as usr&pw and port 21]

appreciate the help

It should be 168 (as far as I know), and yes, enter 192.168.0.3 in for server and xbox for user and password, port 21.

What do you have as the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway for your PC NIC?

And what is the IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway for your Xbox right now (updated)?
