Try using different brands of cdrw and burn at the slowest speed possible.  I used a memorex cdrw and had no trouble at all.

Good luck with that Thompson Drive, most of these drives wont read cdrw media, but i've heard of fujitsu working on some thompson drives.  If not dvd media is the sure way to go

I have a thomson drive and every cdrw media i have put in it played.

It played the following:

DATAWRITE
DATASAFE
LITEON
VERBETAMIN
AND SOME UNBRANDED CDRW

The only cdr i have got to play was (DATASAFE MEDIA 24 SPEED) It played with no probs.
But would not play datasafe 40 speed

Well I got a Samsung drive and it would even reads pancakes if I was able to write or bake data on them. But remember theres a tutorial that you can use to replace your original crappy thompson with an allreading monster. Low costs + less frustration once you've got it to work.
